The Director of Hygiene role is to ensure the standard of care and performance for preventative, re-care and periodontal therapy performed by hygienists is met. This is accomplished through building relationships with Directors (Doctors) and Hygienists, and effective management of their team, accountable for promoting standards of care across all of our practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Works with the Chief Clinical Officer and the Regional Managers to determine the "Standard of Care" for the Hygiene department. Continuously evaluates the "Standard" and pushes to introduce technologies and techniques which aid to enhance the hygiene experience for the patient. Also works closely with local teams to help aid in the advancement of special Value based metric contracts with third party payors to provide enhanced hygiene/ preventative benefits to patients with certain medical conditions
  • Evaluates and visits all offices regularly building relationships with Dental Directors who ultimately oversee Hygiene in their offices while also building relationships with hygienists (delegating duties to regional Hygiene consultants/ leaders where appropriate) and provide reporting on metrics and performance which may help determine where to allocate resources to improve performance and care. Based on these evaluations and relationships will make recommendations to the SLT (Senior Leadership Team) for performance goals for hygiene which inform performance reviews conducted by Ops and the Dental Director. In collaboration with Operations and Human Resources, ensures our hygiene compensation model continues to be correlated appropriately to Clinical performance and improving the lives of our patients while driving the company goals and objectives beyond its financial goals and profitability budgets
  • Educates hygiene team members on standard of care and new treatment techniques and philosophies to drive the standard of care and to improve the lives of our patients across our platform. Sets a CE calendar for the year and promotes participation among hygienists and Directors. (Goal is to not have hygiene CE in a silo)
  • Assists with recruiting Hygienists by working with the recruiting team in HR. Assists with recruiting functions at Hygiene schools as well as participates in the hiring and termination process for all Hygienists. Positively acts and ensures the team serves as culture ambassadors across the organization supporting engagement of practice personnel and positively bridging the gap between practices and HQ
  • Develops, embraces and enhances vendor relationships to enhance the support of our hygiene team
  • Attend Regional Hygiene conferences as needed


Qualifications:
  • Dental Hygiene degree with 7-10 years clinical experience and a minimum of 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to review, analyze, create clinical and performance metrics to construct coaching and performance coaching plans for individuals as well as offices in entirety
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Relationship building, must be effective communicator and have superior listening skills
  • Ability to work as a team and be an effective team leader
  • Must be self-motivated and be own driving force however must also take directions from leaders and work well with others
  • Proven ability to deliver results
  • Ability to conduct oral and written presentations (Power Point, Excel)
  • Ability to learn new dental software and analyzation tools/reports (QDW, QLIK)
  • Must stay current with industry technology and Journals, especially "Evidence Based Dentistry"
