PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To serve as the instructional leader and oversee all operations of the elementary school campus. Ensure a safe and enriching environment for students that supports academic excellence, personal growth, and social-emotional development. Manage staff, resources, and programs to achieve the goals of the district and ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning are met.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • Master's Degree or Higher
  • Mid-Management or Principal Certificate
  • TTESS Certificate, ILD or AEL Certificate
  • Valid teaching certificate
  • Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel; coordinate campus functions
  • Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
  • Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Experience:
  • A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience
  • A minimum of three years prior experience as a principal, assistant principal or instructional supervisor.

  • MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
    Instructional Management
  • Provides instructional leadership, resources, and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals, including implementing high quality instructional materials and research-based instructional strategies.
  • Works with district and campus staff to plan, implement, and evaluate the curriculum on a systematic basis.
  • Evaluates and monitors instructional and managerial processes systematically and uses findings for corrective action, improvement, and recognition of success.
  • Ensures that instructional focus is maintained as the primary goal.
  • Promote high-quality instruction that prepares students for college, career, and military readiness (CCMR) while increasing outcomes bonuses.
  • Develops and coordinates the master schedule of teaching assignments and course offerings.
  • School/Organizational Climate
  • Promotes and communicates high expectations of students and staff performance in an enabling, supportive manner and provides appropriate recognition of excellence.
  • Establishes and maintains an environment which leads to positive staff morale and achievement of the school's mission.
  • Projects a positive image about effectiveness of the school's program with students, staff, parents, and the community.
  • Mediates and facilitates effective resolution of staff, student, and parent conflicts in a timely fashion.
  • School/Organizational Improvement
  • Provides leadership in determining and building a shared vision for school improvement, directs planning activities, and implements programs collaboratively with staff to ensure attainment of school's mission.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and applies research findings to ensure school improvement.
  • Generates, utilizes, and maintains relevant data necessary for attainment of the school's mission and overall school improvement.
  • Personnel Management
  • Uses developmental supervision effectively and comprehensively with all staff by systematically implementing the appraisal process.
  • Initiates and encourages the mutual resolution of conflicts.
  • Provides opportunities for professional growth, encourages campus staff to assume leadership roles and responsibilities, and recognizes exemplary performance.
  • Makes recommendations to appropriate personnel relative to personnel placement, transfer, retention, and dismissal.
  • Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
  • Adheres to local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Plans for and administers budgets based upon documented program needs, estimated enrollment, personnel and other fiscal needs on a timely basis.
  • Monitors the use, care, and replacement of capital equipment.
  • Manages and schedules all school resources effectively and efficiently to ensure clean, orderly and safe buildings and grounds.
  • Maintains fiscal control and accurately reports fiscal information.
  • Student Management
  • Implements and monitors the district's student discipline management plan that results in positive student behavior which enhances the school climate.
  • Ensures that school rules and regulations are observed and that consequences of conduct are applied consistently and fairly to all students.
  • Effectively communicates with parents, students, and teachers concerning both the positive aspects of student behaviors as well as problem areas.
  • Maintains accurate individual student disciplinary records.
  • Ensures student attendance rates are monitored and meet the district's expectation for secondary school campuses. Ensures campus closely collaborates with Attendance and Recruitment Officers, and as necessary, takes appropriate action with regard to truancy referrals, parent letters/conferences, truancy contracts with students, and court referrals.
  • Ensures student 4-year longitudinal graduation rate (9-12) is monitored and meets District requirement target of 98%; ensures campus takes appropriate actions that reflect yearly progress toward meeting this objective.
  • Professional Growth and Development
  • Improves performance through information derived from the district's administrative appraisal process for principals.
  • Improves leadership skills through professional development and disseminates information as needed.
  • School/Community Relations
  • Articulates the school's mission to the community and solicits its support.
  • Initiates and supports activities for parental and community involvement.
  • Encourages two-way communication between the school and community, and promotes a positive school image.
  • Campus Performance Objectives
  • Provides a leadership role in maintaining an effective Site-Based Decision Making Council.
  • Promotes strategies collaboratively to attain the expected standards on the Federal and State Accountability and Texas Academic Performance Reports established by the State Board of Education.

  • Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others.
  • Performs other duties as requested by the superintendent.
