Job description: Education Specialist for Dyslexia, 504, & MTSS

This position manages assigned network, projects, and programs to assist school districts in implementing federal laws and regulations, state laws and Commissioner and State Board of Education rules that meet the diverse needs of all students. Provides training, technical assistance, activities, and services related to these projects and network activities and regional needs, including technical assistance and training on accommodations and modifications, co-teaching, and differentiated instruction. Keep abreast of changes and timelines/deadlines for systems such as RDA and SPP as well as other federal/state accountability systems directly related to special education. Services will be based on a region-wide needs assessment system that include the priority areas listed in special education state and federal regulations and state deliverables and requirements addressing the social emotional development of students in schools.

1. Master's Degree Required
2. Certified in Dyslexia

Experience:
Dyslexia
1. Experience with the identification and characteristics of Dyslexia.
2. Experience with effective, multisensory strategies for teaching students with Dyslexia.
3. Experience with schoolwide practices for the identification and support of students with dyslexia.
4. Experience with classroom instruction through systematic, explicit, and evidence-based instruction designed to meet the needs of students with dyslexia.
504/ADA
1. Experience coordinating, implementing, and monitoring compliance with Section 504 and Title II of the ADA.
2. Experience with training and supporting district and campus faculty on 504 Committee procedures.
MTSS
1. Experience with planning, organizing, and developing districtwide multi-tiered systems of support, including the development of the following domains: Family & Student Engagement, Social-Emotional Learning & Relationships, Mental & Physical Health, Attendance & Intervention Monitoring, Positive Behavioral Supports & Restorative Justice, Academic Supports, and Basic Needs.
2. Experience with supporting site-based special education teams on matters related to the intersectionality of general education and special education work.
3. Experience offering expertise to staff regarding special education law and requirements, federal and state mandates, Section 504, Student Study Teams, Crisis Intervention Plans, and matters related to supporting all students to work towards mastery of state standards and curriculum.
