Job Purpose

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct site visits and investigations to gather critical data, assess structural concerns, and recommend effective solutions to guide project development.
- Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, and design plans to ensure alignment with safety standards, engineering codes, and project objectives.
- Oversee the bidding process by preparing bid packages, facilitating pre-bid meetings, and evaluating contractor proposals to support contractor selection.
- Manage contractor selection through thorough evaluation, negotiation, and finalizing agreements that align with project requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors or permit expeditors as needed to satisfy regulatory agency requirements and secure necessary permits efficiently.
- Perform construction administration tasks, including conducting inspections, tracking material quantities, and verifying compliance with design and safety standards.
- Respond promptly to RFIs (Requests for Information) from contractors, providing clear technical solutions to maintain project progress.
- Review and approve essential project documentation, including submittals, pay applications, and change orders, ensuring accuracy and budget alignment.
- Participate in construction meetings to provide project updates, maintain open communication with stakeholders, and address challenges effectively.
- Monitor and manage project budgets to optimize cost-effectiveness and ensure profitability.
- Plan and allocate staff resources to balance workloads and meet project timelines effectively.
- Prepare and issue accurate client invoices promptly, following up on pending payments to maintain consistent cash flow.
- Maintain a client-focused approach throughout the project lifecycle by ensuring clear communication, anticipating needs, and addressing concerns proactively.
- Provide technical and professional guidance to staff, consultants, and work crews on topics such as code interpretation, material standards, design specifications, and construction methods.
- Identify complex issues and implement innovative, effective solutions that address cross-functional challenges.
- Escalate potential conflicts or issues promptly to prevent delays in project deliverables.
- Adhere strictly to office standards, company policies, and project schedules, communicating any conflicts or issues to supervisors in a timely manner.
- Record time accurately each day and ensure project completion within budget constraints.
- Continuously engage in professional development and learning, as it is an essential aspect of all roles.
Requirements
Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience in a related engineering field.
- Preferred qualifications include a Registered General Contractor license and/or a Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. Candidates with an EIT designation will also be considered.
- A valid State of Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation are required.
- Candidates holding an active P.E. license in another state must obtain Florida reciprocity within six months of employment.

- Architecture and Building Systems Design: Expertise in Florida Building Codes and industry standards, with a strong foundation in architecture and building systems design to effectively plan, execute, and oversee construction projects.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams, departments, and stakeholders to achieve aligned objectives.

Physical Demands*
Necessary to perform the assigned duties safely and effectively:
- Ability to sit with back at a 90-degree angle for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to look at a computer for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to stand upright for up to 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas (uneven terrain, exposure to outdoor weather elements)
- Bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, laying, crawling, and twisting required up to 30% of the time in this role.
- Must be able to ride in a hoist and/or swing stage.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to use right and left foot for repetitive movements as in operating controls or levers.
- Full dexterity of wrists and fingers required with repetitive motions.
- Must be able to see near, in the distance, color, depth, and range.
