Under the direction of the Manager, the Project Manager II oversees and manages complex capital projects and/or work requests and serves as a technical resource to junior Project Manager(s).
Responsibilities
- Communicates actively and frequently with executive management on the strategic impact, complexity and scope of the projects as they are being developed. Responsible for reconciling goals and wants for the project with cost and feasibility and presenting final recommendations to executive management for discussion and approval. Refines the project scope and cost estimates and prepares Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for professional services and construction bids. Analyzes proposals/bids and recommends vendor selection. Prepares a comprehensive project plan, including budget and timeline, for approval by Cost Center Representative and executive management. Submits all pertinent detail for routing through the RAC (Resource Allocation Committee) process and makes formal presentation to RAC members.
- Oversees, manages and coordinates work of contractors, design and other consulting professionals, vendors and in-house business units to ensure project is completed as scheduled and budgeted. Reviews and manages changes to the project as applicable, including impacts to project cost and schedule. Updates and reconciles project costs monthly for accounting reports. Upon completion of projects, ensures all documentation is correctly completed, including receipt of lien waivers, and that the closing data, including capitalization information, is reported to the appropriate departments.
- Provides guidance and serves as a resource to junior Project Manager(s) and functions as interim team leader in the absence of the Manager. Works with inhouse business units to review coordination processes and identify areas for
improvement and implements streamlined processes as applicable. - Serves as vendor manager and oversees vendor management process in conjunction with Corporate Sourcing. Reviews and edits draft documents for services and coordinates with Contracts Specialist to obtain vendor service agreements and purchase orders.
- Advocates for appropriate improvements or projects to preserve Bank assets, gain operating efficiency and attain corporate and division goals at all Bank of Hawaii locations. Where warranted, works closely with the designated Cost
Center Representative and others to identify the goals of the project and develop the scope of work. Researches and understands the business unit and corporate needs and issues as they relate to the project. Provides leadership to the internal team and active management to achieve the project's desired outcome. - Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with major in project management, architecture, interior design, engineering preferred or equivalent work experience in related field or project management work experience.
- Minimum 5 years project management work experience, including renovations, equipment removal/installations and new construction. Lead/team management experience required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Projects and PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems. AutoCAD experience desired. Adobe Photoshop and 3D rendering skills are highly preferred.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated experience working in a team-based work environment. Able to write clearly and concisely and explain complex ideas clearly and succinctly. Must be able to prioritize multiple projects, work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and respond to changes as they occur. Able to provide own transportation or to operate a vehicle with a valid driver's license and commute in a timely manner as required. Travels by air as required. Variable work schedule is required on occasion for after hours and weekend projects (May work evenings, weekends, and holidays).
