The Dean will provide academic vision and leadership to, and will work collaboratively with, Lubin and University faculty, students, staff, administrators, and other professional schools and colleges to develop and enhance undergraduate and graduate programs to meet the changing needs of organizations and drive enrollment. The Dean will be a relentless advocate for the school internally and externally and work to enhance its reputation.

The Dean of the Lubin School of Business will be appointed to a five-year term, renewable upon the completion of a comprehensive and successful performance review. Dependent upon strong academic credentials, the Dean will be eligible for tenured appointment to the Business School faculty.

Position Duties
  • Build a collaborative and productive relationship with the faculty to foster innovative research, promote excellence in teaching, and drive service opportunities with impact.
  • Partner with faculty to build academic programs demanded by market changes that will enable undergraduate and graduate students to embrace and promote innovation in new and emerging market segments.
  • Create a student-centered culture focused on implementing the school's mission with meaningful and measurable outcomes that can be used to promote the school and drive enrollment.
  • Develop and advocate for a support staff that will enable the school to function efficiently and effectively.
  • Lead, develop, and leverage the Lubin advisory board and the alumni network to create opportunities for students and faculty to partner with advisors and alumni in furtherance of the mission of the school.
  • Lead fundraising efforts for the school, working closely with the development and alumni relations division to build and maintain relationships with donors and continually grow funding for programs, initiatives, and services.
  • Create and implement a marketing plan that leverages the unique Lubin identity that will drive enrollment and promote the reputation of the school.
  • Cultivate the unique aspects of each campus while building a shared identity that broadly reflects the mission of the school.
  • Increase the profile of the school by engaging with business leaders, community groups, the AACSB accrediting body, and other stakeholders that can lead to opportunities for students and faculty.
  • Direct the preparation and management of the school's annual operating budget to ensure that resources are allocated efficiently and that programs and initiatives are adequately funded.
  • Set the tone for the school in encouraging excellence, recognizing achievement, and supporting appointments and promotions based on merit.
  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.


Position Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a business-related discipline, or an M.B.A., J.D. or other advanced degree with strong senior public or private executive/CEO experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience at an organization of commensurate size and scale, including management of large and complex budgets. Administrative experience as the Dean, Associate Dean, or equivalent level at a private, not-for-profit higher education institution or other executive experience.
  • An understanding of the critical issues in business education, contemporary business practice, and the needs of today's students, faculty, and executive leaders.
  • A strong commitment to shared governance and servant leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus and resolve conflicts with transparency.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and broad experience working with diverse communities.
  • Strong track record of attracting and retaining diverse and excellent faculty, administrative, and staff talent.


Work Hours

Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with additional hours as needed.
