About the role
At Sygnature Discovery, our DMPK scientists play an essential role collaborating within integrated drug discovery projects that cover a broad range of molecular targets and therapeutic indications. We currently have an open position for Director of DMPK to lead and support our developing DMPK team in Montreal. As our DMPK capability is anticipated to grow to support our portfolio of clients this position creates an opportunity for a highly qualified, experienced drug discovery DMPK Scientist capable of leading a team that provides a range of DMPK activities to a variety of clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a member of the DMPK Senior Leadership Team, work closely with the head of department, the SLT and DMPK colleagues in the UK, to take responsibility for overseeing the DMPK Montreal team to ensure the successful establishment of in house DMPK capabilities to enable routine support of integrated drug discovery programs;
Support the DMPK team in the execution of validated in vitro studies aimed at characterizing the DMPK/ADME properties of small molecule drug candidates;
As appropriate, provide input into the design and implementation of in vivo pharmacokinetic and nonclinical pharmacology studies;
Be involved in the communication of DMPK data and, as appropriate, provide interpretation of results to project teams, senior management, and other stakeholders;
Be a scientific leader and mentor and as the team grows play a key role in the retention and recruitment of key talent;
Oversee the preparation of nonclinical DMPK/ADME reports and when applicable the relevant sections of documents for regulatory submissions;
Working alongside DMPK colleagues in the UK, represent DMPK as an integral member of project/core teams, providing scientific excellence and strategic leadership for all stages of drug discovery;
As appropriate, support business development with scientific proposals to help establish and grow the business;
Be willing when necessary to participate in conducting and troubleshooting ADME assays along side the team.
REQUIREMENTS:
Preferably a MSc or Ph.D. in Biological Science, Chemistry, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacology or related discipline with 10+ years industrial experience in a DMPK Drug Discovery environment;
Verifiable track record of drug discovery DMPK experience, success, and leadership, encompassing programs through all stages of early drug discovery to pre-clinical candidate selection and potentially beyond to IND candidates;
Expert knowledge of routine in-vitro & in vivo ADME assays;
Expert knowledge in scaling to human strategies employed in DMPK;
Expertise or at least a working knowledge of the modelling and simulation methodologies associated with the prediction of DMPK data across species;
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with a diverse team of colleagues situated across different locations/geographies;
Solid written and oral communication skills, enthusiasm, integrity, self-motivation, strong interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are necessary;
Bilingual (French and English). A good level of written and oral English is required to communicate effectively with our English speaking internal clients outside of Quebec.

- En tant que membre de l'quipe de direction du DMPK, travailler en troite collaboration avec le chef de dpartement, les collgues de la direction et de DMPK au Royaume-Uni, en prenant la responsabilit de superviser l'quipe de DMPK Montral afin d'assurer la mise en place des capacits internes en DMPK pour permettre le soutien des programmes intgrs de dcouverte de mdicaments ;
- Soutenir l'quipe de DMPK dans l'excution d'tudes in vitro validesvisant caractriser les proprits DMPK/ADME de petites molcules candidates prcliniques;
- S'il y a lieu, contribuer la conception et la mise en uvre d'tudes pharmacologiques, pharmacocintiques et non cliniques in vivo ;
- Participer la communication des donnes de DMPK et, s'il y a lieu, fournir une interprtation des rsultats aux quipes de projet, la haute direction et aux autres intervenants;
- tre un leader scientifique et un mentor et, mesure que l'quipe grandit, jouer un rle cl dans le maintien en poste et le recrutement de talents cls;
- Superviser la prparation des rapports non cliniques de DPMK/ADME et, s'il y a lieu, les sections pertinentes des documents pour les prsentations rglementaires ;
- Travailler aux cts de collgues de DMPK au Royaume-Uni, reprsenter DMPK en tant que membre part entire des quipes de projet, offrant l'excellence scientifique et le leadership stratgique pour toutes les tapes de la dcouverte de mdicaments;
- S'il y a lieu, appuyer le dveloppement des affaires au l'aide de propositions scientifiques pour aider tablir et faire crotre l'entreprise;
- tre dispos, au besoin, participer la ralisation et au dpannage des tests ADME aux cts de l'quipe.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- De prfrence, une matrise ou un doctorat en sciences biologiques, chimie, pharmacocintique, pharmacologie ou discipline connexe avec plus de 10 ans d'exprience industrielle dans un environnement de dcouverte de mdicaments;
- Antcdents vrifiables d'exprience, de succs et de leadership endcouverte de mdicaments et DMPK, englobant des programmes travers toutes les tapes de la dcouverte prclinique de mdicaments jusqu' la slection des candidats et potentiellement au support la nomination d'IND;
- Connaissance experte des tests de routine ADME in vitro et in vivo;
- Connaissances spcialises dans la mise l'chelle des stratgies DMPK employes pour la dtermination humaine;
- Expertise ou au moins une connaissance pratique des mthodologies de modlisation et de simulation associes la prvision des donnes DMPK pour l'ensemble des espces;
- Capacit de travailler efficacement dans un environnement dynamique avec une quipe de collgues diversifies situes dans diffrents endroits gographiques;
- De solides comptences en communication crite et orale, de l'enthousiasme, de l'intgrit, de l'automotivation, de solides comptences interpersonnelles et une attention aux dtails sont ncessaires ;
- Excellente habilet communiquer et bonne matrise du franais et de l'anglais, tant l'oral qu' l'crit. Un bon niveau d'anglais crit et verbal est ncessaire pour communiquer efficacement avec nos collaborateurs anglophones hors du Qubec.
