Position Summary
The IT Manager will lead the IT department in developing and implementing technology strategies that align with organizational goals. This role involves overseeing IT operations, ensuring the security and efficiency of IT systems, managing the IT team, defining and implementing policies, procedures, and best practices related to the use of the College's IT infrastructure and collaborating with senior management to drive technological innovation.

Position Summary

This role involves overseeing IT operations, ensuring the security and efficiency of IT systems, managing the IT team, defining and implementing policies, procedures, and best practices related to the use of the College's IT infrastructure and collaborating with senior management to drive technological innovation.
What you'll do at OCP
- Manage assigned staff, including providing direction, allocating staff resources, delegating, planning, and prioritizing staff workloads.
- Conduct annual planning of projects and priorities that align with the mandate of the College and strategic priorities set out by the Board, identifying resource requirements and developing and managing annual department goals, targets, measures, and budget.
- Foster a culture of acting in accordance with OCP's values, service orientation, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit and onboard new team members, setting expectations and providing feedback, coaching and professional development opportunities for staff.
- Identify and implement operational improvement opportunities by monitoring and measuring the team's performance, continually examining work processes and exploring opportunities for improving efficiencies through technology, elimination or altering of work processes.
- Contribute to and enforce organizational policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement comprehensive IT strategies that support the organization's objectives.
- Collaborate with senior management to align IT initiatives with business goals.
- Manage the College's IT budgets, forecast future needs, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Implement and maintain IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Identify OCP staff training needs and guide and oversee the delivery of training initiatives to effectively address those needs.
- Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of IT systems and infrastructure.
- Oversee the implementation and management of network security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and data encryption.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Lead IT projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
- Coordinate with other departments to understand their technology needs and deliver effective solutions.
- Monitor project progress, address issues, and ensure successful project completion.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements to ensure optimal service delivery and cost- efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with partners to provide updates on IT initiatives and projects.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies that can enhance business operations and competitiveness.
- Foster a culture of innovation within the IT team and the broader organization.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience in strategic planning, budget management, and project management.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or CISSP are a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
What experience we prefer
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science; Information Technology; or a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in IT management or a similar role
