The purpose of this position is to provide technical support for developing and executing the piping design of a medium complexity Cracker facility.
Under little or no supervision, using independent judgment within established practices and guidelines, the successful candidate will be required to:
Perform piping flexibility calculations on complex piping systems per ASME codes
Evaluate piping loading on pumps, compressors, turbines and other rotating machinery per applicable API Standards
Evaluate localized piping loadings in equipment nozzle/shell junctions to assure code compliance
The candidate shall be able to provide technical support for finalizing the development of piping deliverables such as specifications, data sheets, route maps, isometrics and piping supports for detail design of piping
Execute Fluor's scope of work according to the contract
Interface with Engineer subcontractors related to process piping design
Other duties as assigned
Basic Job Requirements
Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and ten (10) years of work-related experience
A recognized professional certification (P.Eng.) in Alberta
Knowledge of work processes and technical specifications of stress and/or material engineering operations
Interpretation of Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), other discipline drawings and vendor equipment documentation
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include, but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province and federal/national statuses and guidelines
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Applicable design codes, standards and legislation e.g.: ASME B31.3. Piping engineer software - Autopipe
Preferred Qualifications
Fifteen (15) years of experience in engineering, procurement, and construction/construction management (EPC/EPCM) industry including the performance of functional tasks on projects with a basic understanding of procedures and interfaces
Flexible and adaptable approach, willing to take on new work challenges
Ability to set and maintain high standards of performance with responsibility and accountability for successful completion of assignments and tasks
Customer focused with ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships while meeting the company's needs
Demonstrated strategic thinking, accountability, and adaptability skills
Ability to set and maintain high standards of performance with responsibility and accountability for successful completion of assignments and tasks
Proactive reporting of progress and accomplishments of assignments and apply necessary follow-up to monitor progress and results of project tasks and assignments
Analytical approach to problem-solving and identifying potential solutions
