Position Summary

With a strong emphasis on market development, the Sales Engineer is responsible for driving growth. This position opens doors to new clients, fosters relationships, and leads the development of tailored market strategies to expand the reach and sales pipeline of Hiller Measurements. The scope of the role includes industry trade show attendance, creating partnerships, and engaging with potential clients to both understand their needs and provide solutions. The dual expertise of this position in sales and technology are crucial to the success of positioning Hiller Measurements as the trusted partner for mission-critical applications solutions.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Market Development & Client Acquisition:
  • Identify and target potential clients
  • Open doors to new business opportunities (Leverage network and industry insights, leverage social media and other platforms, unsolicited calls).
  • Develop and execute market development plans to engage new customers and increase market share
  • Cultivate customer relationships with decision-makers and stakeholders

Sales Strategy & Forecasting:
  • Work closely with the sales team to define and implement sales strategies that align with market trends and company goals
  • Present and report on sales performance, provide insights into market conditions, and forecast future sales
  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, tracking potential deals from lead generation to closure

Trade Shows & Networking:
  • Attend relevant trade shows, conferences, and networking events to showcase the company's automated test solutions and develop business relationships
  • Represent the company in meetings with potential clients, presenting technical solutions and business value
  • Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations, responding to client queries and providing customized solutions

Partnerships & Business Development:
  • Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with key contractors, technology providers, and other relevant organizations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful product delivery and client satisfaction
  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling within existing accounts

Technical Support & Expertise:
  • Provide technical expertise in pre-sales discussions, helping to configure and present the right solutions for clients' needs
  • Work with the engineering and product teams to ensure customer requirements are met and solutions are tailored effectively

Sales Reporting & Performance Analysis:
  • Regularly review and report on sales performance, market trends, and potential new business
  • Provide actionable insights to senior leadership to inform strategic decisions

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of automated test solutions, test instrumentation, software tools (LabVIEW, Python, etc.), and integration with complex systems. Familiarity with aerospace, defense, telecommunications, or industrial systems is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, customer-friendly language
  • Customer Focused: Proven ability to build trust with customers, understand their challenges, and provide effective technical solutions
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to address customer needs and overcome technical obstacles
  • Travel: Willingness to travel as needed to support sales activities, customer meetings, and product demonstrations (estimated 20-30% of time)

Education, Experience, and Other Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in a sales engineering or technical sales role, ideally within the test and measurement, automated systems, or mission-critical applications sectors
  • Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident (due to company contracts falling under the ITAR)

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
