Specialist, eDiscovery & Litigation Support

Purpose of the role:
In collaboration with the Litigation Support Team, this position assists with all aspects of eDiscovery and Litigation Support case management, building relationships with internal and external clients, and providing exceptional work product under the direction of the Co-Managers.

Managers, eDiscovery & Litigation Support

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Understand advanced eDiscovery Analytics concepts and implement those technologies to increase efficiency and optimize processes and report to counsel;
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to counsel, litigation support team and clients respecting eDiscovery, data collection and defensible document collection;
  • Participate in custodian interviews as required to coordinate the collection of electronic data;
  • Implement and execute defensible data collection from clients;
  • Liaise with external vendors on hosted eDiscovery projects, including implementing work flow processes to meet project specifications;
  • Design and implement review strategies incorporating Continuous Active Learning technology, liaising with review teams and conducting QC of the model and review;
  • Design, implement, update, and maintain litigation databases, coordinate import/export of data, image and conduct QC of output using SQL backed eDiscovery software;
  • Research and maintain knowledge of available litigation support systems and technology innovations in the marketplace to determine software trends and opportunities for improvement;
  • Provide support to lawyers regarding document searching, retrieval and reporting;
  • Assist in advising lawyers on document collection, review and analysis of electronic evidence;
  • Assist in preparing recommendations, budgets, and project plans;
  • Transcript management, including issue coding of questioning transcripts and electronic linking;
  • Perform data archiving in accordance with firm protocols;
  • Respond to urgent after-hours information requests;
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities, including mentoring in eDiscovery; and
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.


Education & Qualifications:
  • Post Secondary education in Legal Studies, Business, or similar;
  • 10+ years of litigation support experience with an emphasis on technical support in either a legal or vendor environment required;
  • Certification in litigation support software or CEDS Certification required;
  • Practical experience with PowerShell, SQL Server, SQL Scripting, Excel VBA, ReadySuite, Message Crawler, AccessData FTK Imager and Encase Forensic Images required; and
  • Working knowledge and practical expertise working with leading litigation document management and support systems, including Ipro Open Discovery, Reveal, Reveal Ask, CoCounsel, Relativity and/or RelOne required.
