Job Summary:
The Director of Inpatient Obstetrics reports to theChair/Senior Physician Executive. This position is responsible for theplanning, organizing, management, coordination and implementation of allclinical quality improvement initiatives including Maternal Levels of Care. TheDirector facilitates quality improvement teams working to improve patientsatisfaction and is responsible for assuring quality and patientsatisfaction/experience endeavors within the department align with Acclaim andJPS Health Network.
The Director ofInpatient Obstetrics will also provide leadership and strategic medicaldirection for Obstetrics within the Acclaim and JPS Health Network to advanceperformance. The Director will champion provider growth and development andcontinuous improvement, and will be accountable to achieve the system goals.

Serveas a physician leader in assuring high clinical standards of services provided
Developand establish evidence-based patient care policies, procedures and carestandards in support of the site in collaboration with District personnel.
Participatein and support the development of quality management and utilization reviewpertinent to the District and site.
Assistwith data collection, submission of regulatory measures, tracking andreporting. Critically appraises data and implements findings in patient caredecisions.
Attendleadership conferences and training as designated by the executive leadershipfor the purpose of improving quality of care.
Facilitatethe ongoing commitment to medical and clinical improvement with otherphysicians within the service line.
Beaccountable for the quality management and utilization review pertinent toproviders related to the service line and counsel providers who are not meetingpractice, quality expectations.
Monitorguidelines for the management of care and for ensuring the services aredelivered in compliance with the guidelines established by JPS Health Networkand Acclaim Physician Group.
AssistExecutive Leadership in formulating, implementing and monitoring policies andprograms for quality assessment performance improvement, safety, utilizationreview, risk management and cost effectiveness in the clinic/clinical area.
Maintaina collaborative environment with other referring physicians, residents,clinical staff, and support staff to provide quality patient care.
Partnerwith operational leadership to further the mission and vision of the JPS HealthNetwork.
Managementof clinical operations for the obstetrical practice.
Developguidelines for scope of Obstetrics practice for APPs in the inpatient andambulatory settings.
Partnerwith MFM, NICU and pediatric leaders to optimize quality, safety, andoperations of newborn care within the hospital.
Participatesin system projects for creation of Labor and Delivery protocols and bestpractices.
Partnerwith hospital leadership on Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby unit toimplement protocols, initiatives and quality measures.
Provideupdates at Department meetings on lessons learned, updates, and protocolimprovements.
Optimizepatient experiences on Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby Units.
Educateobstetric providers practicing within the hospital about system-wide obstetricpractice standards.
Participatein the development and implementation of evidence-based care processes and bestpractices.
Addressperformance concerns for obstetrical providers.
Trackskey process indicators and metrics for system and hospital goals and reviewsthem frequently with providers to identify opportunities to improve care.
Organizeand lead interdepartmental obstetric quality of care review meetings.
SupervisoryResponsibilities - Clinic, Academic, Research
Participatein yearly evaluation of providers at the site.
Participatein ongoing meetings and training of providers at the site regardingDistrict/Acclaim initiatives.
Counselproviders who are not meeting practice, quality or behavioral standards asescalated through Acclaim leadership and Practice Manager.
Collaboratewith the Practice Manager/Chief/Chair/President of Acclaim in developingperformance improvement plans to improve the providers' performance, and tomentor and train providers when needed.
Supervisethe Advanced Practice Providers, if applicable, including Nurse Practitionersand Physician Assistants.
Supportand attend Performance Improvement Programs and Peer Review committee meetings;and actively participate in the process.
Ensureappropriate monitoring and supervision, if applicable, of medicalstudents/residents and other learners in the medical field rotating through thesite.
Participatein preparation and education for audits by The Joint Commission and otherregulatory audits as requested.
Trackand trend patient complaints by category and create plans to addressappropriately.
Maintainthe standards of patient-centered care.
Overseeleave and sick time requests at the site to minimize patient impact and caredelivery.
Provideleadership in strengthening and enhancing the organizational culture thatsuccessfully incorporates a commitment to excellence, mutual accountability,and continuous performance improvement.
AdministrativeResponsibilities in District and in the Community
Workwith the Chief/Chair/President of Acclaim and operational leaders as requestedin developing strategic plans for the operation of the site.
Participatein professional organizations and activities to develop support and to enablethe District/Acclaim to continue to attract qualified medical and supportstaff.
Beknowledgeable and provide consultation and input on development andimplementation of operational policies and programs to comply with directivesof the federal and state agencies that may impact the department/site.
Participatein clinical integration, system integration and business process redesignprograms of the District.
Provideadministrative and consultative services as the executive leadership mayreasonably request, including participation on institutional committees.
Assistthe District in formulating, implementing and monitoring policies and programsfor quality assessment, performance improvement, utilization review, riskmanagement and cost effectiveness of services.
Workwith the executive leadership in tracking patient and provider satisfaction.Discuss and implement changes where necessary to improve and meet benchmarks inthese areas set forth by the District.
Partnersand communicates with acumen to build a positive brand and patient/customerexperience for those who encounter JPS Health Network and Acclaim PhysicianGroup. This would include health network staff, vendors, outside partners,patients, stakeholders, and local community leaders.
Serveas a resource to the community.

Qualifications:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
Residency and/or Fellowship training within specialty
Current unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Texas
Board Certification or Board Eligible
