PennEngineering is seeking a motivated, excited, individual to be a part of the Global Commercial Team. As the Director, Market Expansion and Sales Excellence at PennEngineering, you'll collaborate with teams that do truly amazing things.

We are seeking a seasoned and entrepreneurial leader to drive the commercialization of new technologies, lead expansion into new markets, and help establish global sales best practices. This senior position plays a critical role in shaping the organization's future by leading transformative innovation and market expansion and requires both a hands-on/execution mindset along with the ability to eventually grow and develop commercial talent. With direct responsibility for leading cross-functional teams to enable growth, this role demands expertise in strategy development, operational leadership, commercial excellence, and direct customer engagement.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Global Market Expansion Strategy:
    • Design and execute a comprehensive, long-term strategy to commercialize new technologies and ensure their success in global markets.
    • Drive alignment of innovation efforts with corporate objectives and industry trends to maintain a competitive edge.
    • Partner with executive leadership to prioritize initiatives that maximize revenue and profitability.
  • Customer-Centric Innovation:
    • Ensure new technologies are closely aligned with customer needs by integrating market research, customer feedback, and stakeholder insights into the innovation process.
    • Act as the voice of the customer, advocating for solutions that deliver measurable value and competitive differentiation.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership:
    • Lead and integrate diverse teams, including technical, manufacturing, marketing, and sales personnel, ensuring cross-departmental collaboration and accountability.
    • Establish an entrepreneurial culture within the organization, fostering creativity, agility, and ownership to launch new business ventures within a corporate framework.
  • Growth Strategy Execution:
    • Define, develop, and implement growth strategies to expand market share and accelerate new revenue across global regions.
    • Monitor and refine go-to-market strategies to maximize product adoption and customer impact.
  • Commercial Excellence and Upskilling:
    • Build and deploy comprehensive commercial excellence programs focused on upskilling customer-facing personnel, enabling them to identify opportunities, communicate value propositions, and close deals effectively.
    • Partner with the core businesses and commercial leaders to cultivate a high-performance sales and marketing organization through continuous training and development initiatives.
  • Operational and Financial Accountability:
    • Oversee virtual P&Ls for new technology commercialization, ensuring we meet corporate commitments for profitability and long-term financial sustainability.
    • Partner with the core businesses to optimize manufacturing and supply chain processes to support seamless product launches and market scalability.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • 15+ years' experience in commercial leadership roles, preferably within industrial manufacturing.
  • Advanced degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related fields preferred.
  • International experience, with deep knowledge of regional market dynamics and cultural nuances preferrable
  • Experience in multiple industrial end markets strongly preferred (general industrial, automotive, aerospace, electronics, datacom/telecom, etc.).
  • Demonstrated success in commercializing innovative technologies, with a strong track record of driving significant new revenue growth.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment, delivering results at scale.
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset with a history of building or transforming businesses.
  • Expertise in developing and executing growth strategies in diverse international markets.
  • Experience in designing and delivering commercial excellence training programs.
  • Superior strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
