Ralmax Group of Companies has an exciting and immediate opening for a Director of Information Technology (IT) in Victoria, British Columbia.
The Ralmax Group is a diversified group of industrial businesses predominantly based in and around Victoria's working harbour but also stretching as far as the Sunshine Coast. The companies within the group include Ellice Recycle, United Engineering, Point Hope Maritime, Chew Excavating, Trio Ready-Mix, Nixon Bros. Truck Repair, Ralmax Fleet Services, Victoria Harbour Ferry, Ralmax Properties, Ralmax Marine, Saint Vincent's Bay Quarry and Salish Sea Industrial Services.
Reporting to the CFO, the Director of IT is responsible to lead the delivery of an effective IT infrastructure using a hands-on approach to automation and integration strategies. The Director of IT will work with the Business Leaders to improve productivity, reduce manual processes and increase overall efficiency.
This role will act as a partner/advisor to Business Leader initiatives or alternately plan, coordinate and oversee activities related to the selection, design, development and implementation of information systems and software applications. This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills and knowledge of best practices to guide the stakeholders on issues related to information and software systems.
Responsibilities:
Leading the development of IT strategies in collaboration with senior management and each of the operating companies; and create business project plans for proposal and action
Planning, scoping, gap and impact analysis and other assessments to understand and identify needs and opportunities for enhancement
Proactive collaboration in the development and design of the project plans, working with stakeholders to ensure requirements are satisfied, while guiding them to the appropriate selection
Leading the development of systems changes/enhancements through all phases of the life cycle.
Assisting with the identification and selection of subject matter experts to participate on the project teams
Creating and maintaining training materials, manuals and other related guides
Preparing RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports and other documentation for software selection, development and implementation projects.
Acquiring and maintaining a high-level understanding of the technical and functional architecture, security and compliance requirements of assigned systems and automation
Managing the effective delivery of network, desktop and server support through contracted or in-house delivery models.
Establishment and implementation of information technology standards (hardware, software, security, backups) and usage policies.
Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure cost-effective enterprise software systems and services.
Developing, managing and forecasting capital and operating budgets
Conducts capacity planning and ensures security compliance
Attend monthly Senior Management meetings to provide relevant updates and ongoing initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Degree or diploma in information technology, computer science or similar field; equivalent combination of education and years of relevant experience may be considered
Must have recent experience selecting and delivering operational and/or enterprise software systems
Experience with system integration through APIs or industry standard solutions required
Progressive experience in a leadership role including planning, budgeting, reporting and supervision of staff or subcontractors
Demonstrated experience translating strategy into development roadmaps
Proven project management skills and substantial exposure to project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc.
Proven ability to produce results independently while managing project team relationships
An amazing attention to detail with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Proven time-management skills while working under pressure
Prefer certification in Project Management, Change Management and/or ITIL practices
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of best practice of IT policies, principles and practices
Excellent communication skills in the English language, both verbal and written
Proven ability to build strong relationships, internal and external to the organization
Proven ability to deliver outstanding customer service, solutions-focused yet approachable and adaptable
A hands-on, self-starter with a high degree of initiative
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
Experience with Office 365 is an asset
Work Conditions:
Valid BC Drivers License - travel to off-site locations is required.
In Person position, office attendance is part of the environment
Salary Range:
$110,000 - $140,000 Annual Salary plus benefits package
