SUPERVISES: All Personnel, Facilities & Programs of the Churchill Elementary School

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervises licensed and non-licensed staff to ensure that proper elements of instruction and state/federal requirements are being attended to.
  • Plans, attends and conducts various meetings with teachers, secretaries, parents and other groups.
  • Approves and authorizes all travel, temporary absences, working hours, inservice credit and budget purchase requisitions for staff.
  • Prepares, monitors and approves all expenditures within program budgets, school activity funds, and staff development funds consistent with school district policies.
  • In coordination with the building SDM Team establishes goals, processes, supervision and evaluation of school programs and activities.
  • Supervises the preparation and submission of federal, state, central office and school board reports.
  • Ensures that Board policies and procedures are implemented and followed at the school.
  • Assumes major responsibility in the recruiting, screening, hiring and assigning of school personnel as well as recommending termination of personnel.
  • Develops and implements inservice programs, students and staff evaluation systems, student/class schedules and student/staff handbooks.
  • Establishes rules for student conduct and provides appropriate disciplinary measures.
  • Maintains current and accurate inventory of equipment.
  • Develops a system for effective communication with parents, school staff and central office personnel.
  • Develops and implements with the head custodian, plans for renovation and maintenance of building and grounds. Also responsible for staff access to the facility.
  • Administers all negotiated agreements as they relate to the personnel assigned to the school.
  • Plans and supervises all emergency response drills and preparedness programs and provides leadership in the event of school crisis' and civil disobedience.
  • Oversee district homeschool program and targeted services program.
  • Performs related work as apparent or assigned by the Superintendent and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

    Equipment
    Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

    Travel Requirements
    Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles and behavioral management methods.
    • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
    • Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation and staff supervision.
    • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education.
    • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
    • Ability to develop and implement projects.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
    • Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
    • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
    • Prefer knowledge of restorative practices and needs of alternative learners.
    Qualifications Profile
    Certification/License:
    • MN State Certification as a principal required for position.
    • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
    Education
    • Bachelor's and Masters Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in School Administration.
    • Sixth year, doctorate, or other planned program in related field preferred.
    Experience
    • Extensive successful teaching experience at the elementary school level, preferably in more than one subject area and grade level.
    • Successful administrative experience at the elementary school level preferred.
    Salary and Benefits
    The starting pay for this position is between $111,816.76 - $124,240.84* and is based on Cloquet Principals' Master Agreement. Your initial placement is dependent on your qualifications (education and years of relevant experience).
