Position Summary:

We are seeking an exceptional and innovative thought leader in oligonucleotide chemistry to join our Chemistry team as we develop cutting-edge oligonucleotide-based drug candidates. In this role, you will lead the design, generation, and characterization of oligonucleotide materials to advance therapeutic drug candidates for rare genetic diseases using our novel tissue-targeting platform. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and possess a strong blend of leadership and technical skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive therapeutic programs from early discovery to IND-enabling endpoints.
  • Design and implement innovative, chemistry-based solutions for oligonucleotide drug discovery challenges.
  • Effectively manage external CROs and internal team to meet project goals on time and within budget. Conduct rigorous data analysis, interpret results, and provide clear, data-driven insights to guide project/program decisions.
  • Provide technical leadership to team members performing complex work and achieving diverse objectives.
  • Ensure data integrity and accessibility through detailed and accurate record-keeping in Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELNs).
  • Contribute to intellectual property filings and high-impact scientific publications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot challenges and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related fields with 5+ years of industry experience.

Technical Experience:
  • Expertise in solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis for short- and long-mers (12-120 bp) with a range of chemical modifications.
  • Proven track record in designing and optimizing oligonucleotides (e.g., siRNA, PMOs, ASOs, sgRNA) for therapeutic applications.
  • Proven ability in leading drug discovery and development projects in an industry setting.
  • Demonstrated success in contributing to advancing therapeutic projects/programs.
  • Strong knowledge of analytical techniques for oligonucleotide-based therapeutics.
  • Experience managing and collaborating with CRO teams to deliver on aggressive timelines.
  • Prior experience in developing therapeutic oligonucleotide delivery systems is preferred.
