PROGRAM MANAGER
JOB SUMMARY:
Manage new programs from award through post-SORP stabilization insuring on-time and on-budget program launches. Use determined program/project requirements, schedules, and capital expenditures to develop detailed project and program plans to drive program/project from start to finish. Work together with all functional areas to develop plans, task lists, open issues, timing and resource requirements to support customer requirements and deliverables.

PROGRAM MANAGER
JOB SUMMARY:
Manage new programs from award through post-SORP stabilization insuring on-time and on-budget program launches. Use determined program/project requirements, schedules, and capital expenditures to develop detailed project and program plans to drive program/project from start to finish. Work together with all functional areas to develop plans, task lists, open issues, timing and resource requirements to support customer requirements and deliverables.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represent Android as the main interface with the customer' project team.
- Coordinates critical, multi-functional projects involving customers, suppliers, and internal resources.
- Manages cross-functional teams; coordinates all project activities to ensure successful launch from inception thru post-SORP stabilization including:
- Performing risk analysis, identifying risk areas, and developing alternate mitigation measures.
- Leading cross-functional team in:
- Reaching consensus on open issues, challenges, and contingencies.
- Problem solving activities (in particular - financial challenges, timing and resource constraints, etc.)
- Fiscal management of new program investment.
- Implementation of lean manufacturing techniques.
- Design, development, and implementation of the following, comprehending best possible ergonomic solutions:
- Assembly tools and equipment
- Material handling equipment
- Engaging support from:
- Suppliers in problem solving and meeting quality standards
- Industrial Engineering for performing time studies, layout development, and manpower planning
- Plant health and safety activity in engineering design solutions
- IT and shop floor controls architecture deployment (i.e., error proofing, gate release, scanning).
- Required facilities, tool, and equipment maintenance planning.
- Process documentation and best practice integration for work-cells, assembly stations, plant layouts, etc.
- Provide criteria for tooling, equipment and service contracts (vendor selection, standardization of fastening systems, controls, service agreements, material handling equipment, etc.)
- Managing the customer relationship and any launch or change related negotiations; act as primary launch and engineering change contact, compiling necessary inputs from other team members and negotiating with the customer as necessary (in conjunction with the assigned account manager).
- Audit and hold program team members accountable to Android's Business System and Internal Controls.
- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- 5 years of program management experience; preferably with exposure to both engineering and manufacturing operations; 5 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing, assembly, or distribution facility.
TRAVEL:
- Travel Required: Yes. Travel frequency is based on assigned program and will vary from program to program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong engineering knowledge in product engineering, manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Ability to lead and manage a multifunctional program launch team in a fast paced, short window automotive assembly and/or sequencing plant.
- Proficient in performing and providing leadership for typical manufacturing engineering functions including process design, layout design, facilitating Kaizen activities, quality support, ergonomics and environmental health and safety.
- Strong interpersonal skills, displaying confidence and able to quickly establish and manage relationships with customers, engineers, suppliers, quality contacts, plant team members, etc.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) and ability to facilitate productive meetings.
- Comprehensive understanding of launch process and critical path management.
- Ability to perform program management tasks and effectively manage all aspects of a program launch (APQP, PFMEA, control plans, plant layout, tooling & equipment design, development & implementation, facility deployment, etc.).
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Self-directed with a high degree of self-motivation, urgency and drive for continuous improvement.
- Creative, innovative problem solver.
- Strong ability to prioritize and manage time while managing multiple competing objectives.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and program management software.
