OVERALL POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer III is a multifaceted role responsible for various tasks including maintaining the quality management system, developing inspection criteria, analysis of products, developing solutions to technical problems, and creating test plans to ensure product quality throughout all stages of design, development, and production. The Quality Engineer III supports suppliers and customers in a liaising position to provide solutions to quality related concerns and corrective actions resolutions. The Quality Engineer III analyzes various reports and returned products to gain valuable insights into the continuous improvement of product quality, customer satisfaction, and process effectiveness, leading to higher customer satisfaction and reduced costs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for proposing applicable inspection and test tools, equipment and/or qualification labs; sets quality assurance testing plans for analysis of raw materials, materials in process and finished products for verification and validation purposes for FAIs and/or production
  • Responsible for collecting and analyzing supplier's non-conforming products and delayed deliveries; and customer returned products for careful and thorough examination by implementing a system to categorize these products based on supplier Non-Conformance, Manufacturing problems, Late Deliveries and customer's Reason for Return, Defect & Product Type, Date of Return, Customer Handling, Misuse and Demographics, to identify trends/pattern via Data Visualization, Time Series & Pareto Analysis.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis with the formation of a team representing engineering, manufacturing, production, quality control & customer service to analyze specific cases using tools such as FMEAs, 5-Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, etc. in developing and implementing Corrective Actions for improving product quality and manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for analyzing reports, such as Customer Satisfaction Surveys & Sales Metrics alongside return rates to identify trends and take corrective actions for improving product quality; Production Report to monitor and identify production defects & problematic batches and/or processes; and Inventory Control Reports to track damaged products during storage and/or transportation.
  • Responsible for supporting engineering, manufacturing and operations teams in a liaising position to translate technical communications between Bivar and suppliers and/or customers in addressing design, manufacturability, quality and supply chain requirements, problems and corrective action resolutions.
  • Working with QA & CI managers, responsible for Preventive Actions and Continuous Improvement by putting corrective actions into practice and monitor their effectiveness; scheduling and conducting periodic reviews of return data and reports to identify new trends; and proactively addressing potential issues based on historical data.
  • Responsible for assisting with the maintenance of technical aspects of the Quality Management System, specifically the control of Design and Development Changes in creating the company's quality standards and testing systems to reflect efficiency, reliability and performance. Conduct thorough testing of products at various stages of the product life cycle to identify defects and non-conformances
  • Responsible to relay Regulatory requirements to Design & Manufacturing Engineering and/or Quality Assurance during the development of design concepts and/or solutions for R&D, Custom Solutions and/or NPR, NPD & NPI.
  • Training and Development: Provide training to production staff on quality procedures and standards.


SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act as Lean Champion, ensuring Lean Techniques and Six-Sigma Methodologies are utilized for the creation and/or improvements in engineering and manufacturing processes that help reduce cycle time for New Product Research, Development, and Introduction (NPR, NPD & NPI) to enhance and maintain product quality and increase productivity.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor of Science with Major(s) in Mechanical (Preferred), Electrical, Electronics, or Aerospace, Engineering.
  • 4+ year experience in Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance/Control processes.
  • ASQ CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) and/or Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma Certified preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in ISO9001, AS9100, ISO 14001; ISO 13485; MIL-STD; PPAP; IMDS; UL; CSA; CE; OSHA; VDE; CA Prop 65; RoHS and/or REACH; CMRT
  • Experienced in supplier and customer relationship management to meet sales objectives and customer requirements relative to product, quality, design process and design cycle.
  • Experienced or knowledge of Products in LED Indication & Lighting, High Value Electromechanical Components, Assemblies and Applications preferred.
  • Experienced or knowledge of industry and/or regulatory submission, reliability & stress testing, and certification.


ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to understand and communicate quality and product applications with suppliers and customers.
  • Bilingual - English/Mandarin Fluency: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing Techniques and Six Sigma.
  • Familiarity with Document Control and Change Management process
  • Familiarity with use of CAD Software (Solidworks, AutoCad, etc.), Drafting Standards and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Strong Analytical, Organizational and Collaboration skills with Detail Oriented approach.
  • Critical Thinker, Independent Decision Maker, Troubleshooter/Problem Solver with Data-Driven and Result Oriented approach.
  • Ability to travel 5-10%
