Sr. Polymer Formulation & Applications Engineer

We are looking for a Sr Polymer Formulation & Applications Engineer to join our team at Saint Gobain Adfors! We are in need of someone to establish a laboratory near one of our following Adfors locations:

Albion, New York

Dublin, Georgia

Midland, Ontario

Tlaxcala, Mexico

The ideal candidate would be located near one of these locations or willing to relocate. They would also be comfortable with between 25% and 50% travel between these locations as needed.

ESSENTIALS

• Masters or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or similar required. Specialty in polymer science with formulation experience is preferred.
• Five (5) plus years' experience with polymers or coating technology
• Understands Lean Manufacturing Principles (Kaizen, 5S, Pilot Projects) and participates, supports and is familiar with Continuous Improvements methodology as it relates to WCM initiatives.
• Develops, patents, and industrializes innovative fabric reinforcement products based on new developments in organic coatings, textile design, and fabric forming.
• Creates lab scale, pilot scale (when appropriate), and production trials that follow a clear technical product validation protocol with controlled approvals from both Sales and Operations.
• Maintains a working knowledge of industrial coating processes, curing, laminating and chemical adhesion.
• Maintains a familiarity with textile binder formulations, textile production processes, and textile reinforcement design.
• Provides technical assistance and support to:
  • Engineering projects in respect to processes and
  • Customers, technicians and sales people.
