The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at Amarillo Department of Psychiatry is an innovative community-based teaching program. The Department of Psychiatry treats children to geriatric patients with varying diagnoses of psychiatric conditions and partners with community facilities to provide services. This provides faculty with various clinical experiences, exposure to multiple psychiatric diagnoses, innovative technologies in serving rural patients with chronic mental illness and the high degree of patient interactions.

Rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon candidate's qualifications and experience.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Conduct psychiatric examinations, diagnose and treat mental conditions, prescribe treatment course and participate in the development of interdisciplinary treatment plans.
  • Provide Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry services in the community hospitals.
  • Train and mentor both medical students and residents.


Pay Statement

Required Qualifications

  • MD, DO, or MBBS degree.
  • Completion of, or in process of completing, a psychiatry residency.
  • Board eligible, or in the process of completing training to become board eligible, in psychiatry.
