The Clinical Analytics Lead will be instrumental in supporting the development of Beacon Health System's Clinical Analytics department. This position is responsible for creating data solutions, generating insights, and ensuring data integrity to improve clinical and operational outcomes. This individual will work cross-functionally with clinical, IT, data management, and other operational leaders to ensure data-driven insights support clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. The role demands a deep understanding of clinical workflows, data architecture, advanced analytics, and leadership in deploying solutions that enhance patient care and organizational performance.

Leadership & Department Support:
  • Assist the Director in establishing a new Clinical Analytics department, with a focus on prioritizing workflows and standard operating procedures that address Beacon Health System's unique operational and clinical needs.
  • Contribute to defining the department's strategic direction by identifying key performance metrics, such as clinical outcome measures, operational efficiency indicators, and patient satisfaction scores, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide guidance on integrating analytics into clinical workflows and organizational decision-making processes by focusing on areas such as patient flow optimization, resource utilization, and readmission reduction strategies.
  • Tailor solutions to support data-driven decision-making in quality improvement initiatives and operational efficiency.
  • Drive innovation in data analytics to support evidence-based clinical decisions, process improvements, and value-based care initiatives.
  • Develop departmental goals that align with organizational priorities and promote measurable outcomes.

Analytics & Insights Delivery:
  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytics tools to monitor clinical and operational performance.
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, and analysis to generate actionable insights
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify opportunities for improving clinical workflows and patient outcomes.
  • Document and maintain data definitions and reporting guidelines to ensure consistency and transparency.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborate with IT, clinical staff, and operational leaders to ensure analytics tools align with user needs by conducting regular joint planning sessions, gathering feedback through structured surveys or workshops, and prioritizing enhancements based on user input and organizational goals.
  • Act as a liaison between clinical teams and data engineers to address data integration and quality challenges.
  • Facilitate discussions with stakeholders to prioritize analytics projects based on organizational goals.
  • Provide training and support to staff on using analytics tools and interpreting data insights.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement:
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators to track departmental success and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in automating routine reporting tasks to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay informed of industry best practices and emerging trends in healthcare analytics to recommend innovative solutions.

Compliance & Data Governance:
  • Ensure all analytics activities comply with HIPAA and other relevant healthcare regulations.
  • Support the development and enforcement of data governance policies to maintain data quality, integrity, and security.
  • Participate in regular audits and data validation processes to ensure compliance with organizational standards. These efforts are critical in maintaining data integrity, identifying potential discrepancies, and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA and internal data governance policies.

Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:

  • Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
  • Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
  • Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year if required.
  • Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
  • Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
  • Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
  • Complies with established organization and department policies.
  • Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in data science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Health Data Analyst, Certified Analytics Professional) are a plus. 8+ years experience with relevant technology experience including enterprise-scale technical experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructures for data and analytics, architecture designs, migrations, and technology management. 5+ years experience leading, managing and delivering healthcare analytics technology engagements end-to-end with resources in multiple locations and experience with the following, highly preferred:
    • Oracle Health (formerly Cerner)
    • Oracle Health Data Intelligence (HDI, formerly Healtheintent), including data onboarding, security, registries, HCCs (hierarchical condition categories), HealtheCare, and other modules
    • Cloud based data integration strategies

Knowledge & Skills
  • Proficient in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and advanced analytics platforms (e.g., R, Python).
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong familiarity with healthcare standards and regulations (e.g., HL7, FHIR, HIPAA).
  • Proven leadership experience in architecting and deploying clinical data solutions.
  • Extensive experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced analytics platforms, databases, and data warehousing solutions.
