Our Future Associate Director of Communications
Reporting to and in partnership with the Chief Operating Office, the Associate Director of Communications (ADC) will spearhead communications efforts as S2 continues to grow. A new position in the organization, the ADC will collaborate with a dynamic central office team to design and implement communications strategy to support S2's fundamental goals of student enrollment, parent engagement, fundraising, staff recruitment, and mission advocacy. The Associate Director brings S2's mission to life by telling the stories of our students, families, teachers, leaders, and staff, tailoring communications to various stakeholder audiences and utilizing the most effective channels. This role is responsible for communications including brand management, digital presence, content development and dissemination, and media/public relations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with the central office team as well as the schools' leadership team to develop, hone, share, and own our essential brand identity. Implement a team-designed communications strategy that informs, inspires, and ignites action for S2 and is inclusive of an extensive and engaging social media strategy. This includes setting the vision, planning out a communications calendar at least three months in advance, and coordinating with a diverse range of stakeholders to cultivate consistent messaging and content mining. Provide clear, creative leadership with internal and external communications to create impactful content to support:

In addition to meaningful and rewarding work, School in the Square provides ultra competitive salaries. The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $120,000. Additionally, this is a hybrid position with the option to work from home up to two days per week as needed and your schedule allows.

- Our Brand: Defining our brand and coordinating all departments to ensure their communications are in alignment with the overall vision and mission.
- Parents & Families: Ensure current parents are well-informed and feel connected to the school community
- Enrollment: Partner with the Enrollment Team to create consistent messaging and branding that ensures prospective parents are excited to enroll their children at the school
- Staff: Ensure current and prospective staff feel connected to the institution AND understand the opportunities available to them.
- Hiring: Partner with the Talent Team to create consistent messaging and branding that brings in prospective staff members and spreads our mission.
- Community: Collaborating with external partners and community members to enhance and spread our mission and brand awareness.
Requirements
- Bilingual in Spanish/English (reading, writing, speaking), required
- Alignment with and passion for School in the Square's values and mission
- Strategic thinker who can drive systems across the organization
- Storyteller who can deepen connections with current and prospective families, our professional teams, the broader community, public officials, media and funders
- Ability to craft engaging online and print materials & visual presentations for a variety of audiences
- Experienced in creating and posting content on multiple media platforms including website management platforms and social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Strong ability to create and grow a robust and effective social media presence that leverages best-practice social media trends
- Strong writer and editor: succinct, clear, impactful
- Self-motivated and highly disciplined professional who is comfortable collaborating across teams to co-construct effective content
