Looking for a challenging career, consider the Nurse Supervisor III/Unit Nurse Director position at Cherry Hospital. The Unit Nurse Director (Nurse Supervisor III) is responsible to an Associate Chief/Chief Nursing Officer and manages one or more defined areas of organized nursing services unit/s. The position allocates available resources to promote efficient, effective, and compassionate nursing care, provides administrative-level decisions, and keeps staff informed of administrative-level activities. The Unit Nurse Director ensures appropriate orientation, training, and validation of competencies and the evaluation of personnel performance. The role actively participates in the hiring and disciplinary process. The role participates in hospital-wide nursing committees and treatment planning on special needs patients of the assigned area.

The work schedule is typically 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday but position has a 24-hour responsibility for ensuring the following activities: participation in nursing policy formulation and decision-making; participation in recruitment/selection/retention of personnel; supervision of Clinical Nurse Managers; oversight of staffing / scheduling of personnel and maintaining assigned budget /resources.

*CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Techniques (NVCI) required upon employment (obtain and maintain certification)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of nursing

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and four years of nursing experience, including two years of experience in a Nurse Supervisor capacity.
