The Role:

The Tax Accountant is responsible for supporting the Company's tax function. This includes assisting a 3rd party tax firm with the Company's income tax compliance requirements for federal, state/local, and Canadian jurisdictions; assistance with the annual income tax provision process; managing sales tax and all other tax functions of the business. This position reports to the VP, Controller and will work closely with Accounting personnel.

What You Will Do:

  • Work closely with 3rd party tax firm to manage all US and Canada tax obligations, including federal, state, and local taxes, sales & use taxes, property taxes, franchise taxes, excise taxes, and fuel taxes.

  • Lead interface with 3rd party tax firm with respect to the income tax provision.

  • Manage 3rd party database (Avalara) for sales & use tax, including collection and maintenance of all resale and exemption certificates.

  • Manage compliance projects including R&D tax credits, domestic production activities deductions, unicap calculations, interest capitalization, etc.
  • Prepare and Review Tax (Personal Property, Business License, Income, Franchise and Gross Receipt) returns and applications for monthly, quarterly and annual filings on a timely basis.
  • Track and manage annual reports and other miscellaneous returns.
  • Ensure accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal, state and local income tax returns and other business-related filings.
  • Manage government audits related to sales/use tax, property tax, and income/franchise tax matters.
  • Implement process improvements for efficient and accurate calculation of information for tax compliance and reporting
  • Prepare month end reconciliations on tax-related accounts.
  • Maintain a tax compliance calendar for each respective tax and business filing.
  • Prepare tax footnotes including all supporting schedules relating to the company's tax disclosures
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management.
  • Ability to be a team player and help the organization achieve its objectives any way necessary when called upon.

What You Will Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, finance, business or related field.

  • CPA a plus.

  • 3+ years of experience in corporate tax.
  • Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills.
  • Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance and procedures for corporations.
  • Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to drive process improvements.
  • Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with stakeholders and communicate the benefits of tax initiatives.


Compensation Range:

$68,000 - $113,200

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job related skills, experience, location, and relevant education or training.
