Factory Software team is responsible for building infrastructure solutions that allow the company to redefine manufacturing and production. We focus on implementing effective software advances, distributed fault-tolerant computing, and modern user- experience to manufacturing systems throughout Tesla.
We're looking for an experienced Product Engineer for Factory Software to join our fast-paced manufacturing environment. An ideal candidate is technically curious, challenges the status quo, is an expert communicator, and feels strong end-to-end ownership and agency in their projects. The product engineer will be responsible for planning, de-risking, driving, and validating Factory Software efforts. They will be the interface between manufacturing, process, and operational teams, define technical solutions to problems identified and flawlessly execute them. The product engineer will manage the Factory Software stack from end to end, optimizing on existing integrations and devising new ones focusing on cost reduction, increased reliability, and scalability with 1st principles in mind. They will also manage the introduction of Factory Software to new Tesla manufacturing lines, train stakeholders on best practices, identify any gaps, strategize and ensure completion of production milestones.

Responsibilities
- Understand Tesla software products that support the manufacturing process, their scope and the interactions between each other to implement new solutions that increase automation across the Factory
- Define, implement, and drive project requirements, workflows and plans, uncovering roadblocks, defining critical paths, identifying resource constraints, and any other issues that arise
- Gather requirements from diverse stakeholders, justify the asks through data captured from several sources and assign priorities within the overall roadmap
- Identify, design and track implementation of technical requests from manufacturing stakeholders to improve, debug or create new features to the existing software products
- Document project milestones and resources allocation from the beginning of new solutions design until their release to production environments
- Continuously identify, design and deploy integration optimizations focusing on decreased cost and down time, better user experience, increased reliability and ability to scale
- Root cause analyze with cross functional teams and provide clear, concise, data/log-backed context on issues as well as immediate corrective action and/ or planned preventative action to mitigate future negative impact
- Define Factory Software responsibilities and best practices for deployment, configuration and testing in manufacturing projects across teams and provide training
- Keep cross-product priorities clear across the team, manage overall resource capacity, and reprioritize efforts with changing statuses/ timelines
- Design and present new processes to continuously improve development workflow, business requirements gathering, system changes/ new deployments to production, and overall feedback
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience working in an organizational role such as Product or Program management
- Able to understand complex automated systems and human interactions
- Able to query through cross-product systems logs and root cause issues
- Excellent communication skills to write detailed technical requests for software development
- Experience with manufacturing operating systems is a plus
- Proficiency in drafting diagram flows to document existing vs future process state
- CMMS background (Computerized Maintenance Management System) preferred
- Strong knowledge of MES, JIRA, SQL and API/Kafka based system integrations
- Identify and resolve potential blockers on time to meet deadlines and commitments

- Expected Compensation$128,000 - $228,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefitsPay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
