Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center (BMDACC) is actively seeking a Certified Medical Dosimetrist to join our dynamic and rapidly growing team as our Dosimetry Lead. The Lead Dosimetrist will work closely with the radiation oncology leadership team in driving excellence in the care and treatment of our patient population.

We are looking for a motivated professional who under indirect supervision will assist with the administration of therapeutic services, have input for dosimetry's performance evaluations, assistance with budgetary analysis, oversight and clinical instruction of Dosimetrists (as needed and with new hires), and Dosimetrist Students, (if required or needed: Radiation Therapist, and Radiation Therapist Students). Completes treatment plans under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist and is clinically supervised by a medical physicist utilizing planning systems approved by the Department. Generates an optimized treatment plans by means of computer and/or manual computations that will deliver a prescribed, uniform radiation dose to a defined tumor volume while sparing critical and normal structures. This is done by following the radiation prescription and applying radiation physics principles.

Assists with development and maintaining policies, procedures, and treatment guidelines as well as preparing and participating accreditation surveys, department meetings (i.e., safety, MDA Houston (remote & onsite).
The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of leadership experience, 15 (or more) years clinical experience as a dosimetrist, be a certified medical dosimetrist, have treatment experience with linear accelerators/CT simulation, and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Education Note: Will consider an applicant with an associate degree (non-nursing) and 15 or more years of dosimetry experience.

As a Certified Medical Dosimetrist, you will be responsible for:
  • Calculating and planning patient's daily treatment plans.
  • Performing and/or assisting with brachytherapy procedures.
  • Assisting in CT simulator and special procedures.
  • Actively participating with process improvement and unit counsel.
  • Mosaiq and Aria for record and verify as well as patient scheduling and billing.
  • Eclipse for treatment planning of 2D, 3D, 4D, SBRT, SRT, and SRS cases.
  • Provide CT simulation support and assist with patient positioning.

Experience in the following is preferred:
  • Eclipse for treatment planning of 2D, 3D, 4D, SBRT, SRT and SRS cases.
  • Aria for record and verify, as well as patient scheduling and billing.
  • RadCalc for monitor unit verification.
  • RadFormations experience.
  • CT Simulation support and assisting with patient positioning.
  • Policy and procedure development and implementation.
  • Assisting with clinical trials and other research protocols.
  • Active participation with process improvement and unit council.
