What You'll Be Doing

The Manager of Platform and System Design reports to the VP of Architecture, Data Governance & Data Protection and they are responsible for overseeing the strategic design, development, and implementation of the systems and platforms that support the Fidelity Investment Canada, Fidelity Wealth, and Private Wealth business.

This role focuses on driving platform optimization, enhancing the data ecosystem, and ensuring the alignment of systems with the firm's broader IT and business strategies. The successful candidate will manage a team of technical and data architects, working to integrate cutting-edge technology solutions, cloud-based infrastructures, and data management systems. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and people management skills.
  • Develop and implement platform and system design strategies that align with FIC's business objectives.
  • Collaborate with the IT leadership team to drive digital transformation initiatives and optimize system architectures.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends to support long-term strategic goals.
  • Ensure that all systems and platforms are optimized for data security, compliance, and risk management.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive the adoption of new technologies and processes
  • Communicate technology roadmaps, capabilities, and solutions to stakeholders, translating technical language into business terms.
  • Manage and mentor a team of technical architects and data architects, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Define team goals, objectives, and metrics to ensure alignment with IT and organizational objectives.


What We're Looking For
  • Completed University Degree or equivalent working experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT with a focus on platform and system design, preferably in wealth management or financial services.
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role managing technical and data architecture teams.
  • Proven experience managing cloud-based environments, data ecosystems, and system integrations.
  • Proficient in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), data architectures, and best practices in data governance and security.
  • Familiarity with data integration tools, APIs, ETL processes
  • Experience with generative AI's key technologies and applications is a nice to have

  • Organizational awareness with focus on key partnerships, teamwork and relationships building
  • Analytical and Problem Solving Skills: Performs or leads moderate to complex analyses, accurately
  • Reporting Skills: Knowledge of MS Access, Excel, Oracle Business Intelligence Dashboards /Answers and Business Objects Web Intelligence, SQL
  • Innovation & Creativity: Challenges conventional ideas and accepted way of doing things. Explores creative ideas and different perspectives through brainstorming, open discussion and constructive debate
  • Experience in TOGAF is a nice to have
