Avports HVN, Tweed New Haven Airport Authority and The New HVN have formed a unique comprehensive public private partnership to develop, build, finance, maintain and operate the Tweed New Haven Airport. POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Airport's Safety, Environmental and Health (SEH) Programs, including the FAA Safety Management System (SMS) at Tweed-New Haven Airport. The chief goal is to establish a safety culture that strives to protect employees, customers, the environment, and business operations. Works closely with all department managers and the airport training officer.

COMPENSATION
Salary range starts at $90,000 for candidates with exceptional experience and qualifications. Avports offers a generous benefits package to all full-time employees.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Manage all Safety, Environmental, and Health Programs at Tweed-New Haven Airport; provides regular reports to management on program status and compliance.
- Develop, implement, and monitor an employee SEH training program to ensure compliance with Company, FAA, OSHA, NATA (National Air Transportation Association), and SMS requirements.
- Regularly reviews training programs, maintains all employee training records, and provides necessary employee training for programs such as Injury Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP), Hazard Communication, Building Emergency Action Plan, Hearing Protection Program, Lock Out Tag Out, Fall Protection, etc.
- Ensures staff complete any mandated SEH training from the company or regulatory agencies.
- Monitors compliance with applicable regulatory SEH standards and updates all program manuals, plans, SOPs, and trainings as required.
- Serves as Chair of the Safety Committee and holds monthly safety committee meetings with designated staff. Responsible for keeping meeting records to track and report progress. Also serves on the company-wide Safety Committee that meets quarterly.
- Follows regulatory reporting requirements.
- Conducts safety compliance audits.
- Follows up to ensure workplace violations are corrected.
- Implements internal policies to support employee health and safety.
- Tracks all safety performance indicators and generates administrative reports.
- Writes and reviews job hazard analysis, job safety analysis, and implements safe work practices.
- Investigates all incidents, accidents, near-miss events, and hazardous conditions.
- Conducts root cause analysis and ensures corrective actions are implemented to mitigate risks.
- Conducts regular workplace safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Oversees SEH compliance permits with relevant regulatory agencies.
- Holds regular safety briefings with employees to promote SEH programs.
- Assures compliance with standards and regulations relating to ground transportation, FBO, ramp procedures, and best management practices.
- Ensures all staff are trained on the use of PPE.
- Creates and manages a Safety Environmental and Health Employee Incentive Program.
- Acts as safety liaison for airfield projects with outside contractors/vendors/organizations to oversee SEH compliance.
- Provides assistance and recommendations on SEH issues to management.
- Upholds all Company and SEH procedures and policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; Master's degree desirable.
- Five years of Occupational Safety experience in the aviation industry, or similar setting.
- Equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience may be considered.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and technical writing skills required.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Knowledge and experience with implementing OSHA, EPA, and FAA SMS regulations and training.
- Knowledge and experience in the aviation operations industry.
- Experience in developing and managing various SEH programs in an aviation work environment.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general industry periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Must pass mandatory drug screenings, criminal background checks & obtain security clearance.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License as a condition of employment.
- Completion of Safety Management System for Managers within six months of hire date.
- Completion of AAAE ACE SMS within one year of hire date.
- Completion of ALL OSHA required training within the first 90 days of hire date.
- Completion of ALL other Certificates/Licenses as deemed necessary within one year of hire date.
