Position Summary Description
Calibrates, installs, and maintains protective relays, meters and associated equipment, which will ensure efficient operation of plant, transmission, and substation systems. Calibrates, installs, and maintains substation equipment including high voltage breakers, disconnects, switches, transformers, and other equipment necessary for the proper operation of transmission level systems.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Associate of Science Degree in Electrical Technology or related area and eight (8) years of experience in in calibrating, installing, and in-service testing of non-microprocessor and microprocessor protective systems, and working knowledge of power plant and substation electrical equipment OR Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Technology or related area and four (4) years of experience in in calibrating, installing, and in-service testing of non-microprocessor and microprocessor protective systems, and working knowledge of power plant and substation electrical equipment. Two (2) years of similar experience may be substituted for each one (1) year of education.

Essential Functions
Physical Requirements
Must be able to follow established protective measures including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.Conditions in the field, at times, may include extreme temperatures and noise levels that may require the use of ear, eye, and head protection equipment. The lifting and carrying of heavy test equipment and construction material up to 90 pounds is required. Position may require climbing transmission structures over 100 feet, working out of an aerial bucket truck, and working in confined spaces.
Working Conditions
While working in certain areas of the plant there is the potential for exposure to hazards typical of an industrial working environment. Requires extensive in-state travel. Must be willing to work in all types of weather conditions and work extended hours and schedules as determined necessary to ensure maintenance of facilities. Must be on call at all times for emergency conditions to assist in restoring equipment or line to service. Conditions also include exposure to potentially dangerous conditions existing on construction sites.

Essential Functions
- Schedules the maintenance of substation, relay and meter equipment within Seminole's southern service area. Maintenance activities include minor things such as adding oil to a transformer or gas to a breaker to a complete replacement of a transmission line terminal protection system.
- Coordinates, supervises and oversees all maintenance projects and crews to ensure compliance with specifications and engineering plans.
- Prepares daily, weekly and monthly maintenance schedules of substation equipment and facilities, prepares progress reports.
- Reviews engineering plans and coordinates modifications to the plans with Engineering.
- Prepares bids for maintenance jobs in substation to be completed by contractors.
- Prepares and reviews project specifications and cost estimations, prepares budget requests.
- Maintains Substation, Relay and Meter Maintenance program data files for tracking of equipment.
- Maintains Substation, Relay and Meter Maintenance records Oil Dissolved Gas Analysis and Relay Test and Meter test program data.
- Maintains maintenance equipment data forms for specialized testing of equipment.
- Coordinates with the Senior Engineer, Senior Substation Technician and Senior Relay Technician on entering and filing of maintenance data.
- Maintains inventory list of equipment, equipment parts and materials, and requisitions equipment parts, materials and equipment needed for maintenance projects.
- Oversees/performs testing of substation, relay and meter equipment and prepares necessary reports.
- Conducts training sessions and provides Manager with employee performance feedback.
- Oversees/performs repairs of department specialized tools and equipment.
- Works with Fleet staff on repairs of department vehicles and equipment to be ready for emergencies.
- Ensures the enforcement of and compliance with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety, FERC/NERC/FRCC and environmental standards and regulations applicable to the job function.
- Directs and assists in building and ground maintenance.
- Holds clearances and switches for line and substation equipment.
- Performs in-plant I & C and electrical testing or maintenance as may be required in support of the plant staff.
- Performs line inspections of SECI Transmission Facilities for emergency outage cause identification and recommended repair.
- Troubleshoots and repairs relaying, electrical circuitry, and instrumentation equipment as assigned at plants and member substations.
- Maintains metering and telemetering circuits at MGS and member substations.
- Interfaces supervisory control remote terminal units at MGS and member substations.
- Performs relay and control circuit changes and additions at MGS and member substations.
- Tests carrier, tone equipment, and other pilot channels testing and maintenance at MGS and member substations.
- Checks out of substation control circuits at MGS and member substations.
- Performs other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned.
