Job Purpose
Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) Global Finance and Accounting organization is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented leader to join the team in the role of Controller for our growing business. The Controller is responsible for leading the local accounting organization, ensuring Sarbanes Oxley and corporate governance and reporting compliance, overseeing the closing. The Site Controller will direct team resources to ensure closing is smooth and complete, on-time and meets stated objectives.

Working Conditions
Office environment, duties performed indoors, moderate to quiet noise and comfortable temperatures. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental condition levels. Ability to be available as business situations require. Some may be able to do part of their work remotely. Travel may be required.
Physical requirements
Occasionally positions self to move an office item >10 lbs.
Frequently move about the production floor and office area to attend meetings or trainings
Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time
Frequently operates a computer, enters data into systems, verifies information, etc

Job Responsibilities
- Closing Coordinator - Responsible for meeting closing deadlines and ensuring all closing tasks are completed and correct.
- Lead account reconciliation process.
- Provide interpretation of financial policies, accounting theory, or customer financial regulations and recommend appropriate actions regarding insurance policies, tax circumstances, etc.
- Prepare analysis for management for the month end closing process for review of AEC financial results and meet with the financial organization to review.
- Provide oversight and guidance for the capital expenditure process to various functional areas, assuring the most efficient and effective processes are in place for management and reporting. Direct determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets and management of the fixed asset system.
- Support the organization in forecasting/planning and plan submissions as required.
- Support process improvement initiatives and SAP enhancements across AEC.
- Lead activities that improve compliance with Sarbanes Oxley program and internal/external audit.
- Act as point of contact for audits of responsible ledgers
- Responsible for the project systems creation of new projects, revenue recognition process and assuring accuracy of the results.
- Responsible for reviewing EAC submissions (Estimates At Completion) for use in the revenue recognition process quarterly and supporting the Finance Operations personnel
- Responsible for calculation of actual overhead rates and assuring updates quarterly, as approved by management.
- Support cash flow calculations and forecasting, as required.
- Provide ad hoc assistance, analysis and reporting as required by management

Qualifications/Characteristics
- Master's in accounting, MBA or CPA preferred.
- 13+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accounting closing and reporting procedures, long term contract accounting and Accounting systems best practices.
- Finance and accounting experience within public accounting firms preferred, as is Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance, SEC reporting and disclosure experience.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- SAP or major ERP system experience are preferred.
- Ability to develop team resources
- Ability to work independently and as a team member with minimal supervision
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
- Strong sense of commitment to meeting deadlines
- Government contracting experience using actual costing/project systems is preferred
- Public Accounting/Audit Experience preferred
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, and attentive to detail but able to see the large picture
