Job Summary

The Investment Solutions Group (ISG) is responsible for supporting the investment management and operations at HOOPP and is currently looking for an experienced Business Consultant for its Private Investments team. As a member on the IT team, the individual is responsible for requirements gathering, data analysis, process improvement, automation, testing, and relevant documentation for various deliverables. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the Private Markets (Real Estate, Private Equity, Infrastructure) business, as well as experience with industry standard applications such as Yardi, Argus, Investran and Taliance, would be an asset.

What you will do:
  • Lead and Inspire: Guide the team to develop and support cutting-edge IT solutions for Private Investments, encompassing both Front Office and Investment Operations. You'll work with a mix of third-party and in-house applications to ensure critical business workflows run smoothly and key data sets, including the book of record, are designed and managed effectively.
  • Collaborate and Solve: Engage with stakeholders to tackle vital business challenges. You'll be responsible for eliciting and documenting requirements, analyzing business problems to uncover deeper needs and usage patterns, and always asking the right questions to get to the heart of the issue.
  • Innovate and Deliver: Design robust solutions and manage their delivery through the SDLC. Think big picture but deliver in small, manageable increments. Anticipate surprises early on and be ready to change course or mitigate as needed.
  • Data Mastery: Understand and model data requirements for HOOPP Privates. You'll be involved in ingesting, modeling, and transforming data to support business reporting and analytics.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Help identify and resolve production issues and proactively innovate to prevent them from recurring. Your goal is to keep the system running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Build Relationships: Develop and nurture relationships with IT teams and HOOPP business partners to lead complex, cross-team initiatives from start to finish. Facilitate client interviews to uncover deeper business needs and usage patterns, ensuring solutions are perfectly tailored to their requirements.


What you bring:
  • 7+ years of experience in the Private Markets domain, especially with in real estate. You will have a deep understanding of the investment lifecycle in Private Markets, with hands-on experience in business processes, configuration, and integration of financial systems like Yardi, Investran, Argus, and Taliance.
  • Proven track record of successful solution delivery. You have worn many hats throughout your career, from Solution Visioning and Analysis to Design, Implementation, QA, Production Promotions, and Support.
  • A passion for data analysis, definition, and modeling, particularly for private market datasets.
  • Curiosity about business processes and problems, always looking for opportunities to build innovative solutions or enhance processes to delight our customers.
  • Excellent knowledge of the system development life cycle, techniques, and tools. Strong technical aptitude, including proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and relational data.
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple teams and the ability to influence and improve team norms and processes.
  • Outstanding communication skills with stakeholders and external vendors, ensuring clear and effective interactions.
  • University degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Management, or equivalent. CPA, CFA, or CAIA designation would be an asset.
