DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker continues to expand our growing aviation practice. To enable continued growth, Michael Baker's South Carolina Aviation Practice seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to join our team in either our Columbia, Charleston, or Greenville, SC office. This growing group of engineers, planners and architects serves as the Region's Center of Excellence for Aviation Design while servicing clients nationwide. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic Civil Engineer with responsibilities including design and documentation for a broad range of project types. With a current focus on growing Commercial Aviation, General Aviation and Federal opportunities, along with market-driven diversification including Transportation, State and Municipal, and Industrial, they will work in multi-disciplinary, collaborative project design teams with architects, interior designers, and building systems engineers. They must demonstrate organizational skills, and ability to work in a team environment, and an advanced understanding of construction documents and constructability.

COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $85,612 to $134,846 per hour. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides challenging design work on airfields as well as ancillary/supporting facilities surrounding airports - access roads, parking lots, and development sites.
- Build on your experience in airport airfield design projects including construction of terminal aprons, runways, taxiways, supporting utility infrastructure, siting and design of NAVAIDS, pavement design, and construction and safety phasing
- Responsible for helping deliver solutions for commercial and general aviation airports and airfield projects
- Work in a team environment and may serve as a task manager/leader on airfield projects.
- Involved in all facets of the projects - manage, design, review and quality
- Perform design of grading of drainage of the improvement area in accordance with FAA specifications and standards
- Responsible for preparation of exhibits for presentation to the client
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Possess a BS in Civil Engineering or related engineering degree.
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- Minimum 6+ years of civil engineering design with a concentration in airfield design
- Have a rich background in FAA designs using FAA Advisory Circulars Experience in airfield infrastructure including runway, taxiway and ramp pavements, safety areas, airfield grading, storm water systems and airfield lighting
- Background in stormwater management design preferred.
- Proficiency and experience in using AutoCAD Civil 3D & Microsoft Office Suite
- Attention to detail, strong organization and technical writing skills
- Ability to work independently or with a team
- Background in operating on airfields and communications with airfield operations control and ATCT ground control
- Strong Knowledge and familiarity of pavement design software
