POSITION STATUS: EXEMPT, NON-BARGAINING UNIT

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Operational Business Lead is responsible for providing business support to the line operations team. This encompasses the management of the line ops capital program, the line ops workplan, development of analytics to better support the teams performing Planning, Scheduling and Line Operations. Primary focus will be on internal capital project financial and coordination functions which account for $25M annually and a $10M O&M budget. This position will work closely with the Director, T&D operations to ensure internal capital and O&M objectives are completed on time and within budgeted goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide direct oversight, performance management, and direction for the Associate Business Analyst and T&D capital project managers (dotted line responsibility).
  • Provides support to the day-to-day operations of the T&D Operations team.
  • Responsible for the management and coordination of Line capital and O&M activities, including startup, execution, and closeout of capital projects and O&M budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting. Liaises with the Asset Management Team on all capital needs identified.
  • Provides project management oversight associated with the development of T&D capital projects including project scheduling, tracking, and reporting needs.
  • Provides project management support for capital blankets and non-BSC Capital projects.
  • Responsible for the line operations workplan, balancing of work and resources, and alignment with budgets for both O&M and Capital
  • Assures compliance with company capital governance policies.
  • Directs multi-disciplined teams comprised of internal and external members through project development, preparation, and execution phases including: cost estimate preparation, business approvals and closures, assurance of permits and ROW.
  • Responsible for maintaining records to facilitate the proper close-out of projects with operational accuracy, and appropriate financial and records retention closure.
  • Support field mobility improvements in the company by working across the different groups. Ensure IPADS are being utilized to their fullest extent and bring continuous improvement to this platform.
  • Investigates opportunities for efficiency improvements and to sustainably reduce O&M costs for the benefit of the business and customers.
  • Support the business, as required, in escalated customer issues.
  • Provides recommendations to the Director, T&D Operations regarding departmental budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Provides a leadership role in the planning and execution of storm restoration (SEOP) and Versant Power lead for NAMAG functions.
  • Under the guidance of the Director of T&D Operations, takes a lead role in development and execution of a departmental Leadership Development program and succession planning.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other related duties as assigned, including designated duties associated with System Restoration.

REQUIRED OR PREFERRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Bachelor's degree in electric power or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of O&M and capital execution experience required.
  • Requires skills in work planning, scheduling, forecasting, organizing and analysis.
  • Understanding of the electrical system, NEC codes and company distribution standards preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft office products required, with ability to learn and apply other software programs required.
  • Position requires good communication and organizational skills.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated skill in effectively managing through multiple priorities required.
  • Proactive approach in identifying and resolving issues in an efficient, collaborative manner.
  • Experience managing capital projects strongly preferred.

WORK HOURS:

Usual work hours are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Working between 40-50 hours is experienced.
