JOB SUMMARY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Dean of Nursing and Allied Health located at our campus in Menifee, CA. Reporting to the Vice President of Career Education, Nursing and Allied Health, the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health provides for the educational welfare of students and the professional needs of staff within the Nursing and Allied Health Programs. Working collaboratively with the faculty, staff, and instructional administrative team, and operating within established duties and responsibilities, the Dean has the responsibility and authority to make decisions on matters related to the division; plan, organize, administer, develop, and evaluate the programs, projects, and activities of assigned instructional area; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; and in partnership with faculty, staff and administrators, provide leadership in offering high quality educational services to the District, the community, and most importantly to our students. The Dean of Nursing and Allied Health is responsible for a variety of nursing and allied health programs, and disciplines including: Associate Degree Nursing, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Emergency Medical Services, Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide, Medical Assisting, and Medical Lab Technician.
This is a management position, exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, with responsibility for formulation and recommendation of district policies, regulations and budget decisions related to area of responsibility.
Initial placement on the salary schedule will be commensurate with education and experience, along with a cell phone allowance stipend. While this current vacancy is expected at the Menifee Valley Campus, applicants may be assigned to any district facility. Administrators serve district-wide and may be assigned to the San Jacinto Campus, the Menifee Valley Campus, the Temecula Valley Campus or any District facility. Additional openings that become available prior to the end of the hiring process may also be filled from the qualified applicants.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA Master's degree; (attach transcript) AND Three years of professional experience as an administrator overseeing nursing and allied health programs; or in a hospital administration; AND One (1) year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's assignment; AND Current Registered Nurse license, AND Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff

LEADERSHIP
- Maintains current knowledge of new trends and innovations in community colleges and higher education
- Promotes excellence in teaching
- Provides leadership for program improvement, development, and review and recommends changes to maintain relevance of assigned programs and to meet student and community needs
- Participates in integrated strategic, master, educational, and budget planning, and long-range instructional planning for the campus and the college
- Contributes to the development of policies and procedures pertaining to instructional programs of the college and has responsibility for interpretation and implementation of these policies and procedures
- Conducts meetings to facilitate planning and collegial decision-making to keep staff and faculty informed about issues and projects for the overall college instructional program
- Receives, reviews, and facilitates resolution for student, faculty, or staff complaints
- Assumes responsibility for the development, implementation, coordination and reporting functions required for each of the accrediting agencies for nursing and allied health programs.
CURRICULA & PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
- Facilitates maintenance of relevant curricula appropriate to the college mission and accrediting bodies
- Works with faculty to plan for curricula additions, modifications, and deletions; sets priorities for resource needs; and provides program analyses
- Analyzes student profiles, community and industry needs, trends, and UC/CSU articulation agreements
- Works with faculty to identify and implement Student Learning Outcomes
- Implements and coordinates the planning and reviewing of the Nursing and Allied Health classes and programs
- Establishes Advisory Boards for each Nursing and Allied Health Program
- Assists with accreditation reports and on sight visits for each Nursing and Allied Health Program.
RESOURCE ALLOCATION
- Develops and manages the budget consistent with District policy and sound fiscal management principles
- Identifies and prioritizes needs, secures available funding, and strategically allocates and re-allocates resources
- Confers with faculty and staff regarding ideas for program improvement to find resources for development through grants, foundations, and special projects
- Works with Dean of Instruction, Career and Technical Education, in identifying grant opportunities for the Nursing and Allied Health Programs.
STAFFING
- Interviews and participates in selecting employees
- Supervises and evaluates the performance of all assigned staff
- Recruits and develops adjunct faculty pools
- Orients, trains, counsels, disciplines, and terminates personnel according to established District policies and procedures.
SCHEDULING
- Ensures preparation of a schedule of classes that meets the needs of students
- Supervises the development of the schedule of classes for assigned area and works with staff to produce accurate class schedules, catalog information, program information, and multi-year instructional plans
- Assigns faculty to classes, monitors schedules and faculty and staff workloads for accuracy throughout the semester, and assures accurate and timely attendance reporting for all courses offered in the instructional programs and departments within assigned areas of responsibility.
STUDENT SUCCESS
- Works with faculty and staff to assess students and continuously monitors their progress for success using appropriate data and research tools
- Oversees and evaluates requests for credit by exam, course substitutions and waivers, and other student petitions
- Resolves student issues and assists faculty and staff in referring issues (DSPS, student conduct, grade changes, etc.) to appropriate departments.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS/OUTREACH
- Represents the college with community groups as appropriate
- Represents the college in local, regional, and state-wide instructional meetings and committees
- Communicates with leaders in the private and public sectors and in educational agencies to determine needs for new courses and programs and establish advisory committees as appropriate
- Facilitates academic partnerships between college faculty, faculty in feeder high schools, and four-year transfer institutions to assure maximum course articulation for students.
OTHER DUTIES
- Serves on a variety of campus, District, and participatory governance and adhoc committees as required
- Prepares reports as needed for the Vice President of Instruction
- Prepares reports as needed for presentation to the Board of Trustees in the absence of the Vice President of Instruction from the District, the Dean may assume the duties and responsibilities of the Vice President as assigned
