As a Manager, Independence & Ethics Compliance your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the Senior Manager and National Director of Ethics & Independence with:
o The refinement and establishment of processes related to background research related to adverse media and sanctions related to the Firm's relationship check processes.
o The conflict check and independence assessment processes for firm acquisitions. Including coordinating and project managing conflicts, independence and ethics matters identified by yourself, the Senior Manager or National Director of Ethics & Independence and the ability to identify and coordinate the steps required to resolve.
Managing the daily international conflict check process for inbound conflict checks, and assisting with the domestic Conflict Check process
Learning the various processes and tools used by the broader Conflict Check team in order to provide assistance with complex checks, during periods of high-volume activity, or team member absences
Ability to exercise professional skepticism and ask questions
Mentor and help develop colleagues to grow in their roles
Propose and help implement changes to the conflict check, adverse media and sanctions searching processes, including leveraging new or existing technologies, to improve the effectiveness and efficiency within the program
Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information appropriately
Take-on other special-projects as requested

Think you've got what it takes to be a Manager, Independence & Ethics Compliance? Like the colour purple? Great. Here's a few more boxes we're also hoping you can tick:
Undergraduate degree in a related field or diploma in a related field
Having, or pursuing, CGSS or CSS certification or CPA designation is an asset
4 years of experience in a public accounting firm, financial institution or regulatory body, supporting quality or risk systems, or in a similar practice or function
Ability to read/understand Mandarin and Cantonese is an asset
A good understanding of the types of services provided by a CPA firm is an asset
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to assume, prioritize, and execute multiple assignments
Takes direction well, while also having a natural disposition to take initiative and operate in a self-directed and results-oriented manner
Ability to interact professionally with Partners and all levels of employees as well as external vendors and clients
A team player and ability to work with others to accomplish a common goal
On an occasional basis, flexibility to work outside standard business hours to handle urgent matters or meet obligations of the Doane Grant Thornton network

At Doane Grant Thornton, we're committed to ensuring our compensation practices are fair, equitable and competitive. To get the conversation started, we're happy to share that our current base salary for this role ranges from $76,000-105,000.
