The Process Engineer, Permitting & SolarApp+ will be responsible for guiding and tracking all communication from Tesla to building departments to accelerate adoption of the SolarApp+ permitting platform, as well as engaging directly in these communications. They will construct programs to utilize Tesla resources to make progress toward the goal of wide-spread adoption of SolarApp+. They will apply project management skills to define and implement these programs. They must be capable of gathering, understanding, and analyzing feedback from building departments to convey improvements to SolarApp+. They will stay in frequent communication with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the SolarApp+ Foundation to understand adoption and outreach programs that are happening outside of Tesla so they may communicate a cohesive understanding of SolarApp+ adoption efforts nationwide, both internal and external, to Tesla leadership.
Additionally, this position will be responsible for internal design, permit, and inspection processes related to SolarApp+ and maintain related Confluence and SharePoint pages. They will coordinate with Tesla's training team to create content for process changes as required. They will also work with the quality team members when compliance issues arise to ensure Tesla is utilizing the benefits of SolarApp+ whenever possible.
This position requires exceptional skills in project management, verbal and written communication, organization, and group leadership. Applicants must be self-organized, should be highly effective collaborators, and possess excellent ability to adapt to change.

Responsibilities
  • Work with business leaders and program managers to identify the success criteria of SolarApp+ projects
  • Host meetings, provide updates, synchronize data between systems for tracking SolarApp+ adoption
  • Identify deficiencies in the SolarApp+ program and propose, and drive, process improvements
  • Understanding the blockers of jurisdictional adoption and help resolve using internal and external resources
  • Conduct project evaluations, post-mortems, and drive process change to incorporate learning
  • Assist jurisdictions to integrate SolarApp+ into their systems and processes
  • Work with NREL to evaluate and improve marketing and communications used for adoption


Requirements
  • Understanding of international construction codes for renewable energy systems
  • Broad understanding of electrical and construction permit and inspection processes
  • Highly proficient with desktop applications such as MS Office and Internet browsers; SQL skills a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication
  • Passionate self-motivation; resourceful and able to manage shifting priorities
  • 1-2 years of project management experience
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically (5-10%)

      $76,000 - $126,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
