Description
The position is responsible for managing and supporting all aspects of solar/wind/storage project development at various stages of the generation interconnection process. The position will have the opportunity to manage a team of engineers by performing, leading, and managing fundamental transmission analytics to support project and/or portfolio acquisition opportunities. The successful applicant will provide leadership in building proprietary analytical datasets that will inform company's view of market pricing and congestion trends in different electricity market footprints in the country.

Description
The position is responsible for managing and supporting all aspects of solar/wind/storage project development at various stages of the generation interconnection process. Key Responsibilities
- Manage existing team of transmission engineers by mentoring, building new processes, and teaching transmission/congestion analysis.
- Manage and lead the congestion analysis efforts for greenfield prospecting and active projects in the pipeline.
- Support development and continuous update of internal databases to analyze grid interconnection capability in different transmission provider's grid footprint.
- Support preparation of generator interconnection applications for submission to various Transmission Provider's generator interconnection queues.
- Analyze potential sites based on the available power flow models, queue activity and availability of physical transmission.
- Lead internal production cost modeling efforts by utilizing industry standard tools to determine marginal pricing and congestion trends in changing macro and grid conditions.
- Automate internal processes to analyze project performance in varying market and grid scenarios.
- Review external transmission analysis studies and reports to support project development efforts in different grid footprints.
- Analyze external production cost analysis reports to support project fundamental analysis in varying macro-economic and grid conditions.
- Work in conjunction with external consultants to support project development efforts in different jurisdictions.
- Perform technical analysis as required to support projects in the operational portfolio.
- Keep abreast of the changing regulatory process in markets of interest and present company's position in varying regulatory forums.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (e.g., science, engineering etc..) with an emphasis on power systems and/or power markets is required.
- Master's degree in a related technical discipline is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience of production cost modeling is required.
- Knowledge and experience with power flow modeling is preferred.
Required Work Experience
- A minimum of 4 years in the electricity industry with a Bachelor's degree.
- Transmission planning/Congestion analysis experience with a utility, technical consultant or an ISO is required.
- Advance degree could substitute the work experience requirement.
Additional Requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be willing and able to travel (up to 20%)
- Strong knowledge of basis risk, curtailment, congestion analysis concepts
- Proficiency in Microsoft office suite applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong understanding/knowledge of coding languages e.g., Python, R, VBA etc.
Technical Skills
- Prior experience with industry standard production cost modeling tools e.g., PROMOD, PROBE, UPLAN, PLEXOS, etc.
- Prior experience or willingness to learn industry standard transmission analytics tools e.g., PowerWorld Simulator, PSS/E, TARA, etc.
