The Integrity Group in MIGA (known as "MIGIR") supports MIGA's operations by helping to mitigate certain risks that may occur in projects, as well as corporate activities. One of these is "integrity risk" - corruption, fraud, economic sanctions, litigation, criminal activity/history, politically exposed persons, opaque ownership structures, money laundering and terrorist financing - any of which can affect the integrity of an project, or adversely impact MIGA's reputation as a preeminent international organization operating in the private sector.
Roles & Responsibility
The position will report to the Manager, Integrity.
Lead on all aspects of integrity risk management related to assigned MIGA projects. This includes
working with internal and external clients to deliver high quality integrity risk assessments and develop appropriate mitigants; making persuasive presentations to senior management and, as needed to MIGA's Board.
Defending risk assessments, gap analyses and proposed mitigants at internal project approval meetings, responding to questions from Board members and other stakeholders
Negotiating meaningful solutions to integrity challenges with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Supporting the Manager, Integrity on important policy issues, including from sensitive projects, in communications with MIGA and WBG Senior Management as needed.
Supporting the manager, Integrity in developing new policy initiatives and updating others, including MIGA's Policy pertaining to intermediate jurisdictions and the integration of the updated Policy into MIGA's operations, developing and implementing all supporting client facing and internal administrative architecture (stakeholder communications, templates, etc.)
Lead in developing knowledge products for clients to effect uptake of new policies and procedures.
Mentoring and coaching Integrity officers in technical aspects of integrity framework assessment, capacity building, risk mitigation, oversight and monitoring, as appropriate
Working with MIGA's legal team to develop contractual language as necessary
Providing ad-hoc assistance to the Manager, Integrity, on integrity-related issues that may arise from time to time.
Selection Criteria
Master's degree in business, risk management, law or related field, and eight to 10 years relevant work experience (e.g., in corporate governance or compliance, international consultancy work, international business development, risk management, international financial institution or corporation with international investigative, business or finance operations, investigative journalism, political risk, export credit or investment insurance, etc.).
Extensive experience or familiarity with MDB integrity risk tolerances and responses, including sanctions protocols, integrity risk assessment and mitigation in private sector projects in emerging economies
Relevant integrity related experience, e.g., in Know Your Customer (KYC) assessments; compliance or corporate governance or compliance; international consultancy work; KYC assessments; political risk, export credit or investment insurance.
Strong presentation skills. Able to speak truth to power while maintaining "the big picture" perspective
Strong analytical skills. Ability to identify and assess various compliance and corporate governance risks in clients, partners and projects in an objective, practical and responsible manner and provide fair, well-reasoned, independent and transparent advice
Experience with complex multiparty MDB, or commercial and corporate transactions, particularly in emerging economies, or fragile or conflict affected countries
Experience in handling sensitive information appropriately within an MDB context.
Client service, communication and other skills
Strong client service orientation; history of responding in a timely fashion and with high quality inputs to demands from internal and external clients
Excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment and high ethical standards
Strong organizational, research, and oral presentation skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Able to conceptualize and develop effective technical assistance tools and resources for a range of stakeholders (e.g., underwriters and MIGA clients)
Strong negotiation skills
