Position Overview:
UWNYC's Education Equity strategy consists of a multi-dimensional approach to ensuring that all young people graduate New York City (NYC) high schools in four years prepared for workforce and/or college pathways for a fixed term. The four key dimensions include: literacy development, curriculum and teaching, parent engagement, and wraparound services. The Senior Manager, Community Events (Fixed Term) will support primarily in the execution of town hall meetings in communities to discuss the creation of a first-of-its-kind Latine curriculum with and for NYC schools. This project expects to work closely with core community engagement and education partners, as well as more than a dozen community-based organizations. Year one of a three-year arc, the Latine curriculum begins this year with a deep dive into strategy and community engagement, culminating in the creation of a project blueprint that both embodies community assets and needs while also charting an expansive vision for generations to come. When successful, the Senior Manager, Community Events (Fixed Term) will have ensured that community members are convened via local community-based organizations, their ideas heard and documented, and their insights systematically reported to the project team.

Primary Responsibilities:
Event Planning and Coordination
- Communicate with community partners to align on event objectives and logistics.
- Create a comprehensive project plan to ensure the smooth execution of events.
- Schedule events in coordination with community partners and stakeholders.
- Prepare with community partners to ensure alignment and readiness for each event.
Logistical Support & Execution
- Ensure proper registration processes and attendance from the project team.
- Provide logistical support for town hall events, including setup and execution.
- Ensure thorough and accurate note-taking during meetings.
- Create a synthesis of all meeting discussions and outcomes for distribution.
Community Engagement & Follow-Through
- Continue engagement with community-based organizations (CBOs) through the launch of the Blueprint initiative.
- Maintain CBO engagement and support through the end of the school year to ensure alignment and successful follow-through.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required in Liberal Arts, Business Administration or a related field of study.
- Strong organizational and a minimum of three years of experience in demonstrated project management.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A minimum of three years of experience in coordinating events, meetings, or community outreach initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse community stakeholders.
- Proficiency in note-taking, summarizing key points, and synthesizing discussions.
- Knowledge of stakeholder engagement best practices and strategies.
- Familiarity with education policy, community-based organizations, or public sector initiatives is a plus.

Salary Range:
- The salary range for this position is 72,435.00 to 100,707.00, based on an annualized salary
- The final determination of salary, within this range, will depend on the candidate's education, skills and experience required.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of background check.
- UWNYC is presently on a Hybrid/In-Person work schedule.
- This is anticipated to be a fixed-term position from February 2025 - June 2025.
