Summary:
The Director of Development and Strategic Alliances at Alabama A&M University will provide strategic leadership and planning for the University, with a focus on managing and expanding the University's fundraising efforts and developing strategic alliances. This position will report to the Vice President of Marketing, Communication, & Advancement.
The Director will be responsible for managing and expanding the University's funding sources while also developing new sources of income from individuals, corporations, and foundations to meet the University's fundraising goals. A key responsibility of this role is to develop a portfolio of corporate partnerships at the $100,000+ level, with a particular emphasis on building relationships with Fortune 500 companies located in Huntsville and beyond.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Fundraising:
- Work with the Vice President to establish short- and long-range goals for unrestricted and restricted funding sources.
- Manage members of the development staff.
- Participate in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of
- Provide fundraising training opportunities for development staff, academic leaders, and volunteers in development.
- Develop a portfolio of corporate partnerships at the $100,000+ level.
- Focus on building strong relationships with Fortune 500 companies in Huntsville and other potential partners.
- Identify opportunities for strategic collaborations and alliances that align with the University's goals and mission.
- Work closely with senior leadership to develop and implement strategies for strengthening alliances and partnerships.
Processes:
- Work with the Vice President to enhance processes that maximize efficiency in fundraising and strategic alliance development.
- Ensure that staff and other campus personnel adhere to all policies, procedures, and processes to ensure maximum fundraising and alliance-building efforts.
- Database & Records Management- Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in maintaining Raiser's Edge, Donor Search, and other databases. Maintain security and quality control. Generate standard queries and reports while also creating specialized reports to provide a more detailed analysis and any other collection of data as needed. Manage all related vendors.
- Development Communications-Supervisor most development communications matters, particularly the creation of various reports, presentations, and annual reports. Produces general content for websites.
- Supervisory responsibilities-Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience:
- Extensive professional experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of fundraising or sales experience with a university/college, professional industry, or non-profit with a proven track record of achieving revenue targets.
- Strategic leadership ability to creatively think and design the advancement operation of the future.
- Experience working with senior-level executives.
- Must be available to travel 60% of the time.
- Must be available for evening and weekend events.
