The Work

The Staff Engineer plays a key role within the Infrastructure Solutions team, responsible for designing and supporting network and infrastructure solutions across the organization. This role bridges the gap between traditional engineering and architecture by focusing on the research, design, and planning phases of network engineering initiatives and infrastructure projects. The Staff Engineer collaborates across various teams, supporting the Azure Cloud Operations, business unit infrastructure requirements, and I&O teams. This role will not involve direct operations management but will instead focus on creating detailed designs, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and supporting high-level infrastructure needs across the organization. On occasion there may be a need for technical troubleshooting.

Network Design and Engineering Support
    • Lead the design and research efforts for network engineering initiatives, focusing on Cisco Meraki and Fortinet FortiGate technologies across cloud and on-premise environments.
    • Work closely with the Network Manager and the I&O team to develop network solutions that meet operational and strategic goals.
    • Develop detailed documentation, including network diagrams and technical specifications for new implementations.


Azure Cloud Operations
    • Design and support cloud infrastructure solutions in Azure, focusing on operational efficiency, scalability, and security.
    • Collaborate with the CloudOps team to implement network and infrastructure changes as per the business unit's requirements.


Infrastructure Design for Business Units
    • Act as the technical infrastructure engineer across business units, supporting the design of bespoke infrastructure solutions as needed.
    • Conduct research on emerging technologies and trends that can enhance infrastructure capabilities.
    • Provide recommendations on tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve network and infrastructure performance.


Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
    • Serve as a technical resource, working with both I&O and business units to ensure alignment on design and engineering projects.
    • Facilitate cross-team collaboration to ensure the seamless integration of new network and infrastructure solutions.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing
    • Produce comprehensive technical documentation for all design initiatives.
    • Share knowledge and mentor team members on best practices for network and infrastructure design.


Let's Talk About!
    • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
    • 7+ years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure design, and cloud operations.
    • Proven track record in designing scalable network and infrastructure solutions within a complex environment.
    • Experience working with business units to design custom infrastructure solutions.
    • Strong experience in network engineering with a focus on Cisco Meraki and Fortinet FortiGatefirewall technologies.
    • Advanced knowledge of Azure Cloud infrastructure and operations.
    • Ability to design and document complex infrastructure solutions that align with business requirements.
    • Strong understanding of security principles in both cloud and on-prem environments.
    • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across teams and with stakeholders.
