Get Ready to Transform: Your Role in Action:
  • Coordinate and ensure the quality of healthcare services provided to individuals served.
  • Maintain knowledge of individuals served, including significant medical history, current medical problems, current medications, and baseline behaviors and presentation.
  • Assist/advise administrative and direct care staff to ensure all individuals receive primary, preventive, and rehabilitative healthcare as needed, including support services (e.g. VNA, Hospice, etc.)
  • Oversee special equipment use. Obtains orders for equipment as needed.
  • Healthcare liaison to parents/guardians, May Institute employees, external healthcare providers, pharmacies, medical supply companies, and regulatory agencies (DDS, MassHealth, etc.) as needed.
  • Develop and maintain systems to ensure accuracy and thoroughness of all healthcare services.
  • Manage the Center's infection control program.
  • Provide ongoing training and in-services to May Institute employees.
  • Serve as a first aid and health information resource for staff and individuals.
  • Coordinate and provides training to staff on MDPH's Medication Administration Program (MAP).
  • Maintain certification as a MAP trainer.
  • Obtain and maintain MA controlled substance registrations (MCSR) from MDPH for each residence.
  • Oversee and maintain the medication occurrence reporting system.
  • Assist/advise the administrator on new admissions.
  • Coordinate yearly pharmacy reviews for all programs.
  • Supervise nursing staff at residences (in MA and NH) and Day Habilitation Programs.
  • Provide telephone consultation services during shift.
  • Participate in and coordinate administrative on call weekend responsibilities on a rotating basis.


Your Skills and Talents: A Winning Combination!
  • Current RN license in MA.
  • Minimum of 5 years' related work experience.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) or commensurate experience.
  • Previous medication teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Valid driver's license.
