About Us

The Ministry of Justice and Attorney General (JAG) provides a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan; promotes safe and secure communities; and provides legal and justice policy advice to government.

The Ministry is responsible for justice services and court administration services, legal aid, prosecutions services, administrative tribunals, civil and family justice services, compliance and enforcement, policy and providing legal and legislative services to Government.

Strategic Policy, Planning and Reporting Branch (SPPR) is located within Corporate Services Division, and provides support services to all JAG divisions and branches in the areas of legal policy, strategic and operational policy, intergovernmental policy, strategic and operational planning, and performance, measurement and improvement.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an energetic, organized and collaborative leader as the Director of Planning and Performance.

We offer a challenging and dynamic work environment where you will play a key role supporting senior leaders to direct and lead the full cycle of planning, reporting and performance management. You will lead a team to deliver quality strategic planning and support implementation to ensure ministry programs and services are providing effective and efficient service. You will ensure that the Ministry's strategic planning model evolves and adapts to meet the needs of senior leaders. You will collaborate with teams across the ministry to develop a performance management framework that includes risk management, annual reporting, program review and evaluation. You have certification and experience leading and implementing a variety of continuous improvement projects.

You will provide project management support for corporate projects that support strategic change initiatives and participate in intra- and inter-ministry working groups related to ministry and government outcomes.

Ideal Candidate

You are an experienced facilitator who can work with large teams to understand complex issues and identify strategic priorities on an enterprise level. You have the ability to see the signals through the noise and connect solutions through analysis. You have a strong ability to manage diverse points of view and being consensus.

You are an accountable and reliable leader who motivates your team by making your workplace healthy, challenging the status quo, supporting individual development, and by being a team player. You lead and collaborate with a reputation for integrity, service excellence and innovation.

You have knowledge of government structures and processes, strategic planning, and government decision making processes. You are a clear communicator and a conceptual and strategic thinker and able to negotiate and mediate diverse groups with conflicting interests.

You will bring to this position knowledge of:
Facilitation tools and practices;
Strategic planning concepts and methodologies;
Project management tools; and
Program review and evaluation
Continuous improvement methodologies.
