The "Megapack Sales Team" focuses on the sale of battery energy storage (BESS) equipment to customers including electric utilities, independent power producers and renewable energy developers. Projects are typically large, utility-scale BESS deployments that provide capacity, grid services, or integration of renewables to the grid. The Megapack business has grown exponentially in recent years and is well positioned for significant additional growth, becoming a substantial part of Tesla's overall business.
This is a dynamic customer-facing role supporting every aspect of the sales cycle from account management to technical diligence, to contract negotiation. The Associate Sales Manager plays a pivotal role supporting a team of Sales leads. This position is responsible for coordinating and enabling projects from initial engagement to contract execution while working with Tesla's commercial and technical support organizations.
This role will involve a mix of internal and external task management and project management responsibilities. Internally, diverse project teams comprised of engineering, finance, legal and other disciplines will need to be coordinated to achieve sales goals. Externally, customer relationships are built and managed, contracts are negotiated and closed. Responsibilities
- Represent Tesla to our customers, partners, and other industry stakeholders to support the sales process
- Provide critical support throughout the sales cycle, including organization, customer engagement, technical/economic analysis, etc., to achieve a targeted product volume and/or revenue closed each year (quota bearing)
- Generate high quality, accurate quotes and project proposals, often in response to highly complex and formal utility RFPs, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and Tesla strategic goals.
- Manage techno-economic analysis of opportunities - identifying associated risks, optimizing technical and commercial variables, and articulating Tesla's value compared to competitive offerings
- Assist senior Sales Leader in managing a project pipeline of short, medium, and long-term opportunities spanning a range of customers, project types, and markets
- Provide reporting to management as and when required
Requirements
- 2-3 years minimum work experience in the renewable energy space and/or power sector
- Experience in sales or business development (customer-facing)
- Working knowledge of battery systems, renewable power, and grid markets
- Hands-on contract negotiation/management experience in energy storage or renewables a plus
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-functionally in fast-paced, dynamic settings
- Strong analytical/quantitative skills regarding complex price models, storage/renewable project economics, techno-economic optimizations, quantitative risk analysis, etc.
- Ability and flexibility to travel periodically

$108,000 - $162,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
