About the Role
As Controller you will be responsible for the full accounting cycle of the Business Unit and lead a team responsible for managing financial and accounting tasks, supporting the management team in strategic plan implementation, and ensuring the financial health and compliance of the Business Unit.
- Location: Toronto
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Work Mode: Hybrid
- Travel: Requires traveling to Winnipeg 8 to 10 times per year.
What You Will Do
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition.
- Manage and monitor accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with Canadian GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the development of accounting policies, practices, and procedures.
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls.
- Participate, as a BU in-scope, to the annual audit process.
- Supervise and develop the accounting team, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
- Develop and implement robust cost-tracking processes for MSP operations.
- Monitor and analyze monthly operational results against the budget.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide comprehensive updates to BU Leader.
- Support management in the implementation of the strategic business plan.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and team efficiency.
What you are bringing
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in finance, with at least 5 years as a Controller.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP, particularly Chapter 3400 for revenue recognition.
- Proven leadership and personnel management experience.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.
- Capacity to work in an energetic, growth oriented, entrepreneurial environment
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English, French is an asset
- Experience in the Managed Service Provider (MSP) industry in an asset
