Job Title: Speech and Language Pathologist
Job Specialty: Inpatient/Outpatient Rehabilitation

Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of current experience
License: State License required
Certifications: CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence), BLS (Basic Life Support)
Must-Have:
- Master's or Doctorate Degree
- Experience with adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Knowledge of rehabilitation equipment including, but not limited to, language/communication aids, devices, and wheelchairs
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Willingness to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings
- Certification in LSVT LOUD is a bonus
- Previous travel experience is preferred
- Own vehicle required for this position
Job Description:
- Evaluate, perform diagnostic tests, and treat referred patients as a member of the healthcare team.
- Manage acute, swing, and outpatient care, primarily for geriatric patients, while expanding services to younger clients.
- Proficiency in modified barium swallow studies/swallow therapy and common speech therapy treatments for aphasias, voice, and cognitive therapy.
- Assist patients in reaching maximum performance and level of functioning within their capabilities.
- Based on medical referral, set goals, plan, and execute treatment, reporting findings to healthcare team members.
- Provide discharge recommendations, exercise programs, and family teaching, as appropriate.
- Determine the necessity to refer patients to other diagnostic, medical, and therapeutic services.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation and record-keeping.
- Utilize effective time management for patient scheduling and timely treatments.
- Demonstrate competency with patient equipment relevant to the work setting.
- Observe and evaluate treatment effects; recommend changes to physicians if necessary.
- Perform appropriate assessments and reassessments as per policy, including for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients.
- Formulate and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching plans based on identified learning needs; involve family in teaching as appropriate.
- Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
- Safely and correctly manage and operate equipment while maintaining department cleanliness and safety.
- Interact professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of care plans.
- Communicate clearly with physicians, staff, and administrative team members.
- Coordinate and direct patient care to meet patients' needs and adhere to hospital policy.
- Consult other departments, as needed, to collaborate in patient care and improvement activities.
