Job Description:
- Engage in population-appropriate communication.
- Understand growth and development milestones and tasks.
- Provide clear instructions to patients and families regarding treatment.
- Involve family or guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
- Identify any physical limitations of the patient and deploy intervention as necessary.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to patients and families with behavioral health problems.
- Interpret population-related data and plan care appropriately.
- Identify and respond appropriately to different needs resultant from psychological needs or associated religious/cultural norms.
- Perform treatments, administer medication, or operate equipment safely.
- Recognize and respond to signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect.
- Inspect and prepare radiologic equipment and troubleshoot as necessary.
- Report equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel and follow through until resolution.
- Maintain archival storage of digitized data and produce hard copies of images as needed.
- Prepare patients for procedures, providing clear understandable instructions.
- Respect the rights, privacy, and property of others while showing sensitivity and compassion.
- Prepare and administer contrast media under MD supervision.
- Provide knowledgeable assistance in obtaining necessary images.
- Demonstrate compliance with infection control guidelines and hand hygiene policies.
- Utilize personal protective equipment and standard precautions related to exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
- Maintain sterile technique while preparing a sterile tray and draping the patient.
- Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and respond appropriately in emergencies.
- Monitor radiation exposure to patients, regulate time and intensity to protect patients and team members, and notify MD of prolonged exposure.
- Report radiation exposure to the radiation physicist per hospital policy.
- Monitor and report contrast usage during procedures, keeping the MD aware.
- Demonstrate proper hemostasis techniques, including manual pressure and vascular closure devices.
- Maintain competence and certification in point-of-care testing.
- Be knowledgeable in the setup, use, and troubleshooting of equipment used in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, including intra-cardiac echo, mechanical thrombectomy, pressure wire, counterpulsation balloon pumping, and percutaneous left ventricular assist device.
- Demonstrate knowledge of hemodynamic parameters and monitoring.
- Accurately document the chronology of procedures and hemodynamic waveforms, calculating values correctly.
- Promptly notify team members of cardiac rhythm disturbances or pressure abnormalities.
- Participate in continuing education activities to promote professional growth.
- Participate in unit activities and hospital committees to improve patient care and work-related processes.
- Work cooperatively with cardiology fellows to support the hospital's academic mission.
- Precept students and other healthcare team members, maximizing their learning experiences.
- Engage in ongoing education and training in cultural and language-appropriate service delivery.
- Stay current with changes in technology and patient care by attending in-services, journal clubs, and reading professional journals.
