Role Summary:
The Federal Policy Lead will play a key role in advancing CPC's unique perspective on key federal policy priorities and maintaining our role as an industry leader in affordable housing. A highly collaborative role, the Federal Policy Lead will be an important part of the Public Affairs division on the External Affairs team, working closely with the Senior Vice President of External Affairs, the Office of the CEO and the Law Department to develop key relationships with elected representatives and government agency leaders, and provide research, data analysis, and policy recommendations to support CPC's mission and impact.

This is a hybrid role that can be based in either NYC and would work out of our Manhattan office 2-3 days a week or remote in Washington DC and will need to periodically travel to our Manhattan office. The salary range is $120,000 - $140,000, dependent on experience.

What You'll Do:
- Work as an integral member of the External Affairs team to develop policy recommendations and identify opportunities and strategies to ensure CPC's goals are effectively communicated to government partners and elected officials.
- Analyze issues and propose policy solutions; track relevant legislation and funding issues; federal rule making; assess strategic opportunities; develop recommendations; and prepare issue briefs, summaries, and other materials to guide development of CSH's policy positions.
- Project manage and draft written testimony, public comment submissions, policy briefs, and support priority policy initiatives.
- Represent CPC at meetings of elected officials, public hearings, trade group discussions, and other events.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative research in connection with Federal housing initiatives, community development, and economic development to assess the impact on CPC's business and to evaluate CPC's positions.
- Develop meeting agendas, presentations, and briefing documents.
- Research industry trends and prepare summaries and reports to support CPC's business objectives. Synthesize research and existing policy, as needed.
Skills and Experience:
- BA required. Advanced degree, or equivalent experience, in Law, Real Estate, Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field strongly preferred.
- 10 years professional experience in Affordable Housing, Community Development or Real Estate required. Must include some policy, intergovernmental, or advocacy experience at the federal level. Government experience a plus.
- Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Must be detail and deadline oriented.
- Demonstrated ability to work proactively in a collaborative, team environment.
