Position Overview: The Resource Director of Nursing (DON) plays a pivotal role in supporting and traveling to various Recovery Centers of America facilities. During assignment, the resource DON will assume the role of DON in facilities facing vacancies and/or leaves of absence. Additionally, the resource DON may assist in training of new DONs or providing onsite support to Interim DONs. As the resource DON, he/she directs, plans and coordinates service activities of professional nursing and auxiliary nursing personnel; interprets facility policy and regulations to nursing personnel and ensures personnel compliance; analyzes and evaluates nursing and related services to improve quality of patient care and better utilize staff time and abilities. He/she is responsible for department budget while on assignment.
Specific Responsibilities:
Education and Experience:
Unencumbered Compact Registered Nursing license required
Additional RN licensure in MA, PA, and/or IL preferred
7-9 years nursing experience, minimum of five years nursing leadership required
Experience in detoxification, addition and/or mental health strongly preferred
Possesses strong leadership qualities and conflict-resolution skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrates group presentation skills and participates as a leader in meetings.
Hires, directs and evaluates nursing staff
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and proprietary facility systems

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Travel: Travel is extensive and expected to be 80% during assignments
Specific Responsibilities:
- Travel is anticipated to be 80% including some over the weekend stays and will vary upon facility need
- This is a PRN position with full time work during assignments. Assignments are expected to average 8 to 13-weeks and no more than 6 months can pass between assignments to remain in active PRN status.
- Responsible for the 24-hour management of the Nursing Department and assuring that the daily tasks of the Nursing Department are carried out in accordance with facility policy and in compliance with State, Federal Regulations, and JCAHO Accreditation Standards.
- Maintain continuing quality assessment and improvement analysis and evaluation of patient care delivery and communicates with VP of Nursing and facility CEO on the activities/issues of Nursing/Patient Care Services
- Review all nursing related incident reports including but not limited to medication errors, falls, HLOC send outs and provides recommendations for improvements in nursing practice
- Works with staffing coordinator to ensure nursing coverage based on census and to minimize callouts, OT, missed meal breaks, and other time and attendance issues
- Consult with CEO, CFO, and Medical Director on a routine basis in support of organizational mission and vision.
- Interact with patients and families, clinical teams to promote individualized, person-centered and recovery-oriented treatment
- Manage the department budget and ensure staffing appropriate to established ratios and
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate all nursing staff
- Ensures nursing department staff are trained and current with all required licensure, competencies, and certifications
- Maintains the standards of nursing practices

- Responsible for Infection Control to conduct annual risk assessment and leads quarterly IC meetings during assignment
