Job Description
Job Title: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)

Job Specialty: Cardiovascular Technology

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: 10-hour day shift, 7:00 am - 5:30 pm, 5x8-hour days

Guaranteed Hours: 40.00 hours per week

Experience: Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience preferred; special procedures experience preferred

License: Surgical Assistant License or Surgical Technologist Certification required for Colorado employed staff only (unless covered by another active Colorado license, certification, or registration)

Certifications:
- BLS (AHA) Required
- ACLS (AHA) Required
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through CCI; OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES); OR RRT with post-primary certification of Cardiac Interventional Radiography through ARRT Required

Must-Have:
- Radiographic and Cardiac skills
- Team player characteristics
- Ability to provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours as per department and/or facility policy

Job Description:

- Assist physicians in performing specialized cardiovascular procedures including diagnostic and interventional catheterization, pacemaker/defibrillator implantation, intra-aortic balloon pump operation (IABP), and electrophysiology studies.
- Evaluate and document patient status, respond appropriately, and intervene/refer to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise, competence, and proficiency based on knowledge and skills, exceeding essential job responsibilities per department standards.
- Commit to continued learning and sharing knowledge with patients and colleagues.
- Participate in sub-committees and initiate in-services as part of a strong team player commitment.
- Engage in performance improvement activities to evaluate care outcomes.
- Use evidence to monitor and improve care based on regulatory and practice standards.
- Safely use equipment, time, personnel, and supplies to deliver high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Adapt to changing workloads and patient needs with flexibility and priority setting.
- Maintain a high skill level through participation in continuous quality improvement (CQI), in-services, ongoing education, and attendance at a high percentage of staff meetings.
- Troubleshoot and correct recording instrument malfunctions or unusual patient problems.
- Independently prioritize clinical and administrative work and identify process improvements.
- Process patient and department records, ensuring documentation of performed tests matches hospital standards.
- Ability to adjust approach based on patient/family understanding levels.
- Potential requirement to float to any designated location within 60 miles of the original assignment or designated float zone, including duties outside original assignment requirements.
